Thank you, I'm age 51 with about 8 years experience, you have great tips. I like the be more relaxed. I was gripping so hard today when I was doing a moto that my fingers were cramping. After seeing your video, I realized I was trying squeezing the handle bars like lemons for no reason. Look where you are going is so important as well as keeping your weight over the back tire, butt high and low depending on the front wheel. Thank you. My riding is at home only for now on 11 acres of one valley and 1100' ridge tops, it's pretty fun.

You’re a really cool guy. Been following your channel since your days on the 07’ 450EXC (great bike). This is my favorite “5 Tips to Improve” that exists on KZbin. You’ve truly focused on the most imperative disciplines that a beginner rider needs to know.

My tips on racing 1. stay on back fender to get max traction and also ease on arm pump/speed wobbles 2. keep legs and arms soft (to take up any bumps) dont fight it 3. If not confident with ruts go across them at an angle u wont loose speed u just wont have to line them up 4. buy a good set of tires (dunlop) this will increase grip and confidence when cornering 5. focus on your 3 points of engagement Hands, feet, and knees i say this because standing up will make you more maneuverable on the bike also squeezing with your knees will give you more grip on the bike. p.s invest in the parts e.g handlebars, grips, levers, footpegs, seat investing and upgrading in these will improve your comfortibility when on the bike 6. STAND UP as much as possible, this is the most important thing even when entering corners until apex you should be leaning off the back no matter what 7. don't be afraid of the clutch the clutch is there to help it wont bite usually you can use your clutch to slow down your bike mid turn and still be wide open to stay in power or to drop it mid corner to give you that jump to come out with speed.

Thanks for the help, after doing years on road courses I've been getting into the dirt the last year. I even was a control rider/instructor. But this is a new again learning experience for me. I'm in my sixties and my bike is vintage too. But except for the elbows up, there are a lot of the same things to focus on. I failed on my first two attempts at hare scrambles. Both mechanical on my 78-79 Bultaco Frontera and myself. (the motor is apart now) I have no problem staying relaxed riding by myself, I need to stay that way when I get into a competition ! I have done things that I didn't know that either myself or my bike could do. Mostly because I was committed and had no choice.. But I have a long way to go and every little bit helps !

In my opinion the 2nd to a helmet is stamina. It's the absolute most important thing about riding to me as the day wears on. Get up in the morning, every morning, and max out push ups and do as much core and calisthenics as you can with the time you have to do it. Vascular and respiratory exercise be it diet or just working on breathing deep and exhaling slowly so you don't run out of wind and keep that o2 fueling the muscles and the brain. You can be a great rider but if you can't hold on then you definitely can't keep up. Just an hr of riding decent single track or just an hr of enduro practice will straight wear you out if you don't have enough stamina or don't have enough wind in your sails. If nothing else, skip stopping at the mailbox in the car and walk to it, hell, run to it. You should cross train for your body twice as much if not more than you do for your riding skill.

Awesome vid Aleski, really good topic, the new look on the 17 looks awesome as others have said, trail looks great too to have fun and practice those drills on. A tip re elbows up, I know you covered it, but it’s often lost or misunderstood for cornering on enter and esp exit, it’s common now with 4t riders to have the chicken wing elbows down esp on exit of corners, some due in part it to laziness a 4t develops in a rider, also the longer throw on the throttle with a 4t, you can get cams depending on throttle tube to shorten this throw or twist, but other reasons that can be negative, why it’s always good to come back to basics we all need that. But noticed that in one of your corners , keep that outside elbow up, you will have more control, more options and a stronger position l attack position, when relaxed it’s a skill, it’s rare to see that nowadays very common on older MX technical skill sets, all the best riders had it, some better than others, the best cornering riders all had this skill set, some better at it than others here’s too of the best ever, David Bailey, Ron Lechien, still see it with likes of Steve Holcombe or Johnny Walker to some degree, it’s more prevalent in a 2t rider, 4t riders tend to develop the chicken wing ess if that’s all they ride or have ridden, it’s not good technique for any off road bike. Just a pointer, google Bailey esp Lechien and you will see what I mean, if that doesn’t make sense. Anyways congrats the new vid looks awesome, nice work. 🤙
