Thank you! The qamets chatuph (pronounced as an "o" sound) occurs when both of the following conditions are met: 1) it is a closed syllable & 2) the syllable is unaccented. If these conditions are not met, it should be qamets (pronounced as an "ah" sound). :)

Hi. Do you have any brief advice for learning vocabulary outside of the Vocab you cover in your video lessons? For example, I want to read specific chapters in Genesis, and to learn the Vocab I don’t know yet in those chapters. I was thinking of putting pictures next to the Hebrew words and also making picture cards for myself on my PC (replicating your style somewhat) as a way to review, with no English at all. I am however also thinking also of doing flashcards (Hebrew-English), but I like having no English glosses, so I am not sure if this is best way (I have done flashcards on an app before. OK, but not great). My goal, in any case, is for the words to really “stick.” I also thought to just keep looking at the words in my reader’s Bible, but I might not sure if this is the best way. Anyway, any brief suggestions you might have would be great. Thank you.

Please, how can one who doesn't know or understand Hebrew ab initio be part of Hebrew study when there's no interpretation in his own language. It would have been better if there were to be say Hebrew to English or English to Hebrew for easy or effective communication. Shalom. Ihejiene Samuel.
@AlephwithBeth Жыл бұрын
The lessons are designed to guide you from no Hebrew knowledge to being able to understand these more advanced lessons. It's very important to start with Lesson 1 and watch them all in order, and then you will be able to understand this lesson. See the playlist for Lessons 1-50 to get started! 😊 (Actually, having English translations for everything will train your brain to translate to English all the time, and therefore read very slowly, instead of understanding Hebrew directly and naturally. 😉)

@@hebrajskinietylkobiblijny4750 Medieval scholars used the names interchangeably because in Sephardi Hebrew a qamatz makes an /a/ sound, while in Ashkenazi Hebrew (and therefore in Yiddish) it makes an /o/ sound... A qamatz qatan usually appears before a schwa, so they "imagined" there was a schwa on that qamatz too...
