Let me correct you on the ATACMS missiles. They have been around since the 80's, so they are not all that, they were used in the first Gulf War. Most of these will still be the old stock. They were originally designed for the M270 MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System), I have dealt directly with this system 30+ years ago. I know firsthand about this system. The HIMARS came to be in the late 90's early 2000's, they still have the ability to launch the same rocket just less of a payload and being wheeled verse tracked.

In my opinion, there are harder things to come for the Ukrainians than nuclear weapons. As one can read in the media, Russia has destroyed nearly all power plants and the heating plants in Ukraine, and that will result in a very harsh winter. General Winter has always helped the russians and it will help now again. The consequence will be millions of new refugees in Europe with all the consequences.

The reason behind Russia's line is that NATO targeting data, maintenance and expertise are used to make the long range weapons effective, this directly makes NATO involved in this war. These aren't used as defensive weapons any more. What if us and Mexico were at war and Russia was aiding Mexico to defend against our attacks and invasions. Then suddenly Russian, Intel, technicians and personal assisted Mexico to hit major US targets and bases in the US using Russian weapons? We would hold Russia directly responsible as well.
