I love this song. It's a nice indication of how climactic "Confessions" is going to be. It's a very frantic song, very panicked, which is something that fits well with the Artists's character (he's already crazy; I would think time travel would be trying for anyone). I've noticed a few comments mentioning that Alesana sounds "generic" with this song, and while I respect those opinions I have to say this: considering everything that Alesana has put out, considering the quality of their storytelling abilities and the fact that they have managed to complete an entire trilogy, I would give Shawn and Patrick a bit more credit where the composition comes into play. Yes there are breakdowns and yes it's definitely a different tuning than "The Emptiness" and "A Place Where the Sun is Silent" but the breakdowns are employed in a very precise manner (not liberally like most bands nowadays in this genre) and the heavier tuning fits well with the tone of the story. I don't see Alesana as one of those bands who are trying to "fit in"; they seem to be doing pretty well fitting out. Credit where credit is due; respect each other's opinions; and PMA.

Josh Pellett Exactly. Fans who have listened to their music from the very start and read or listened to interviews that Alesana has done will understand how dedicated they are to their craft, hence Shawn starting his own record label. A lot of people have complained that it took almost 4 years for the ending of the trilogy to get here, but I honestly think it was for the best. As a fiction writer, it's the same thing: you wouldn't rush something to appease the masses; you want to take your time to write the best thing possible.

LYRICS: I’m having trouble breathing And if I don’t think fast I’m likely to find myself here for good Panic sets in as I start to question Why I see you standing there beyond the glass... Who said that we never would touch the speed of light? So far behind me, understanding Stars become rivers flowing backwards, oh yea! When did my heartbeat start to echo? Why are my thoughts now fading, drifting, yea! Twisting, yea! tearing, yea! bleeding , yea! Excuse me, are you a maniac? I am and I’m okay with that My moon, my stars, One last night, one final kiss Desire begging me not to go Goodbye my everything I’m terrified, I pull you near Making sure that you are real Open my eyes, it was all a dream Goodbye my everything An endless maze, a mobiüs labyrinth Exodus, redemption, where have you gone! And yet your gaze will not cease to burn into me! So far removed, so mockingly you observe Pariah, hypocrite! I will be free! And yet you will remain Excuse me, are you a maniac? I am and I’m okay with that My moon, my stars, One last night, one final kiss Desire begging me not to go Goodbye my everything I’m terrified, I pull you near Making sure that you are real Open my eyes, it was all a dream Goodbye my everything, goodbye my everything No! Futile screams go unheard Incarcerated by so many walls No! Imprisoned and banished within a nexus of my own design Don’t go back, don’t leave me Hide from the world, let’s not exist Please God kill me! Time is mocking me and now I’m fighting gravity, yea I’m destroying me, colliding worlds will set you free A straight line is not the shortest distance between two points! I know that now! But I’m afraid it might be too late! Will we come back from this? Hold my hand, I’m blind! Show me how, I’m lost! My God it’s beautiful The portal opens, time is slowing, no turning back now, ‘Bel My moon, my stars, One last night, one final kiss Desire begging me not to go Goodbye my everything I’m terrified, I pull you near Making sure that you are real Open my eyes, it was all a dream Goodbye my everything, goodbye my everything No! Futile screams go unheard Incarcerated by so many walls No! Imprisoned and banished within a nexus of my own design

Alesana always bring an unique material in their new album. And something unfamiliar will mostly get a negative response. I'm a big fan from Indonesia, but honestly I never liked their new songs when I heard it for the first time. But once I listen to it over and over again, I'm starting to get this new perspective about how they express their self in the album or what kind of emotion that they are trying to tell. That process is always enjoyable for me, very stoked for the new album.

I don't get why people hate on breakdowns so much. That's part of this damn genre and always will be. When bands change and get more main stream because they stop screaming and doing breakdowns all y'all hate on that too. It don't make sense. I like this. I love how Alesana still bring those old school cool kinda lows and melodies. Good stuff
@DyingDeath79 жыл бұрын
It just gets repetitive after a while. A lot of the newer post hardcore/metalcore bands have been doing this, sometimes I just miss the variety.
@Radical_edweird9 жыл бұрын
***** The reason is very simple. They are extremely over done and very easy to pull off. Now breakdowns are expected within this genre and there aren't many bands that do it creatively or effectively these days. With that being said I thought the breakdown here was neat, with the piano strokes thrown in. But it does get really old when every band ever has verse/chorus/breakdown/verse etc.
@MidnightRage76 жыл бұрын
The thing about Alesana is that they set themselves apart from other bands with the uniqueness of each song they write. Their breakdowns aren't generic-sounding like a lot of post hardcore bands, and that's what's amazing about them.
@vipe2935 жыл бұрын
It is one way of being "lazy"...instead of putting breakdowns, why not incorporate guitar solos instead? Because solos are harder and takes more time to write, considering there are millions of other guitar solos out there..."breakdowns" are just a "safe" and "easy" route...
@benjaminwoodman5 жыл бұрын
Breakdowns of this genre are the like bridge to a worship song! Almost as iconic as solos! I LOVE them. They always give so much of an epic feel. I thought everyone loved breakdowns.

The end of this song,, to me, seems to be spitting out some strong over-tones, I mean a precise message or warning...like they know more than they are telling. Just art and the artist, I guess, where walking a razors edge, is like a fine line where one side is completely absorbible, relateable, and the other side bounces off of us like a flubber ball. I enjoyed this.
