Purchased this Alesis Crimson kit from GC about a month ago. Still making voice adjustment to some of the kits and setting up a few custom kits in the module. Over all the kit seems to have good trigger response to sticking. Kit is very well constructed and sturdy. I've played acoustic drums for over 30 years and I'm very happy with this kit so far. Bass pad does have plenty of room for double pedal set up. Module also has 2 extra inputs for one additional tom and one additional crash. Bottom line I rate this kit very good for the price!

My screen is blue, I prefer the blue screen as its easier on the eyes to read.

Nice dude, I just found one on eBay for like $400+ haha, I hate edrums but i cant play my real kit at the momment. I got the crimson 1, the blue module is easy to see. Dude open your kick drum tower and put some gorilla tape or something under the wires coming out of the piezo. One of the known issues is that eventually the wires cut against the side of the brass piezo sensor and short out. It's easily fixed but you can prevent it from even hanppening.

I bought this set an acoustic player my whole life. This drumsets changed my life I have the smaller version even with one less tom and cymbol but these drums are so versatile and easily customised to your exact liking and they feel like real drums when playing..btw to keep your e drums quiet loosin your cymbals up as much as they go wayyy more quiet

I've been playing this kit since January 2017. The only problem I've come across is the kick pad doesn't pick up really fast double bass all the time. Other than that, the kit is solid. I use the aux in port for audio to play along. Or, with an down size adapter, my buddy can plug in his guitar and we can jam out silently. I got it on sale for 899 and so far it's been worth every penny. Don't listen to the other guy saying it's not worth it, he's a salesperson at GC trying to get you to buy the more expensive kit with rubber pads. This is just fine for solo/amateur work and it feels great. I also used the extra drum inputs to add two more cymbals.
@The6580scot8 жыл бұрын
I've had this kit now for 4 months and so far so good. I've read that people are having problems with the kit falling apart. Not sure what they're doing to tear it up. I find that it takes hard hitting quite well. The stand is very sturdy and the trigger sensitivity is pretty good once you set it the way you like it. The only thing I was told by a GC salesman to use a hard beater on the kick pad. They said a felt beater will pull on at the mesh and will fray it apart. I've been very happy with it so far for the money, I don't think you can go wrong.
@ZandrielGrimm8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, most mesh heads require that you use a plastic/silent beater on it. However, the GC that I use actually uses felt heads on the bass and it's still fine. It's somewhat mind boggling tbh
@robertlucas98678 жыл бұрын
Scotty M it takes weeks to months depending on how much you use bass drum before the felt beaters tear up the mesh heads. The felt causes more friction. My church uses Roland TD-20 STILL and we didn't know that a felt beater would do that until it happened. We replaced the head and beaters to plastic and no problems now. I've noticed in my experience that the Alesis kits get damaged because people are abusive. The Guitar Center near me has the same kit for the past six months and both kids and adults just forcibly move the pads and rack to weird positions which causes it to wear out. It has held up but eventually it will break. They do the same with Roland TD-11 and Simmons kits. My Roland kit at church is the same, they move it during the week when no one is there for a local private school to use our sanctuary and they do they same thing and the rack is messed up now. This is once a $5000 kit.

May I ask you a question? A lot of people say that the durability of alesis is really bad, how do you think about that now, using it for 1-2 years. (if you still own the kit)
@tkelly8308 жыл бұрын
Alesis is definitely impressing me with their new line of kits, I have a Roland td11k and I love it, but when the time comes to get a new one, I think i will go with Alesis, these new kits look awesome and for the price they have Roland beat hands down.
@tkelly8308 жыл бұрын

@tkelly8308 жыл бұрын
+Bill Perri Damn lol, this kit looks like Alesis finally hit a homerun. I still will be playing my Roland for at least another year or two so I have some time, hopefully by then Alesis will clean up these other issues because their definitely headed in the right direction.

the only thing I wish Alesis did was have a dual zone hi hat. The hi hat like the ride is one of the main cymbals we actually play the bow as well as the edge regularly so one zone sound isn't natural
@bolttracks5 жыл бұрын
None of these sounds sound particularly natural tbh
@robertlucas98678 жыл бұрын
I'm waiting before purchasing. So far the Guitar Center near me had the same Crimson kit for display six months now and it has held up to alot of drummers. The only problem people keep moving the pads and rack by force to horrible positions to play instead of properly loosening the bolts and moving it correctly to a proper position but it has held up and still triggers nicely. I wish they put the newer cymbal pads on this kit. And I wish they would get the Strike Pro out but these rumors of copyright infringement is interesting. Not sure how they are infringing when everyone uses piezo triggers and overseas companies use mesh heads for years. The patent must be open now in states since others now use mesh heads.
@joseluisruiz37898 жыл бұрын
i bought this kit a month ago and use it daily and its been awesome. i was very skeptical on buying it due to some negative reviews about the drums not properly syncing when you play them but so far no issues. it definitely is not as customizable as the Roland TD25k but its close enough for the price.
@ZandrielGrimm8 жыл бұрын
25? I beg to differ good (sir/ma'am)! This kit may not have as many sounds as the 25 but you can customize this far more extensively than the Roland. You can change every single zone on here so you can have the 2nd tom be a Tom/China or even a splash. Meanwhile, with the 25, you have to completely dedicate a pad to one sound. You can't have the ride be a splash and China. So even though the sounds aren't quite as good, overall, you can customize the Crimson much more than the 25
@joseluisruiz37898 жыл бұрын
Chase Gardner i agree with you on part of your statement (sir/ma'am)! I own this thing and got it because it was under $1200 at the time. Like i said it definitely sounds awesome but the sounds on the TD25K sound better and i am now experiencing the syncing problem on the crash symbals. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, other time even if you hit the symbols hard and adjust the volume on the unit independently it still sounds low in volume. Its a common problem with the crimson. I wouldn't consider buying it again and will be trading it soon.
@ZandrielGrimm8 жыл бұрын
jose luis ruiz I'm planning on getting this kit until I can afford my own DIY kit. I'm planning on getting a whole acoustic kit and converting it to electronic. But this kit, from what I can tell, is a perfectly decent set until then.

I too just bought the "Crimson" about a month ago for the price. I've already got problems with the Crash, not so much the ride yet. but Im still happy with this kit., Im not getting rid of them any time soon, although I am soon removing these garbage cymbals and replacing them with Roland Cymbals.
@ItsPalm8 жыл бұрын
These felt really great at GC! Not used to mesh, but the feel was very accommodating. Also, the sounds were very much a better quality that what I get on my DM7. The three-zone ride functioned very well, as well as the hi hat. Kick pad very responsive.

I have tried both this and the Roland td11k in music stores. IMO there's a tough trade-off here : Roland brain sounds better BUT Roland's pads are way too small. Alesis had the right idea making the pads more like real drum sizes, and the kit looks a lot better. I also prefer Alesis' kick pad to Roland's. Having said that, I have seen the same thing others mention here : the Alesis kits in the music store always have one or two pads that don't work. Not sure whether it's a case where they don't hold up or whether so many more customers are attracted to the Alesis kit that it takes more of a beating. You can never tell unless you ask the store staff. In the end I suppose I will have to go with the Roland, since I plan to use them for recording and ultimately sound is what matters most.

First of all I have never been in a music stores drum dept. where it didn't look like a two year old set up the edrum kits every set up is horrible and impossible to play, most racks will swing two to three inches from left to right, most kits look like toys because they were set up in 5 min. when my Alesis kit was delivered I took my time setting up the rack I knew if I did everything right this would be a one time deal, once everything was tightened down that's the way it would stay, I used a level and everything came out perfect the rack is on a carpet and is rock solid, the Alesis rack is not trash like someone mentioned, it's a beautiful chrome rack that makes most of the Roland racks look like toys, the rubber Tom pads (3) respond great and look nice they are not cheap looking at all, the cymbals that come with the Command kit are small but have great triggering, not like the Yamaha and Roland cymbals I had with past kits, the Yamaha cymbals would fire when they felt like it, The Roland cymbals and hi hat pad sucked so bad I could not even use them, If I struck the HH ten times you would be lucky to hear it trigger 7 times total crap, NO problem with the Alesis when you hit the pad it fires,,,Whats true about all kits and modules more then 75 percent of the stored kits are useless, and who cares about 700 sounds if most of them are useless, think about it with all the snar drum sounds stored in the module you'd be lucky to find 3 you really like, just keep in mind everything has it's downsides. With edrums you need to create your own kits, that means choosing the snar, the toms, the kick the cymbals, the volume, the panning, the pitch, reverb, sensitivity, the eq'ing,,,If you don't do all these things they are never going to sound good, NO matter what kit you purchase. My opinion I would buy the Alesis Command kit for $699.00 over the $999.99 Roland kit any day of the week.

it hasnt been doing that great from the symbals. they work when they want to. but i did reead reviews positive and negative and chose to go with it. personally i wanted the Roland TD25k since i personally liked the feel of it but if you can find this kit for under 1k its cool for practice but to perform live on an electric kit i would go with the TD25K. since i keep having issues with the symbals on the Alesis, im going to most likely trade it in and see how much value it dropped and use the difference to buy a TD25k. i just liked the more realistic sounds it has. nothing beats a real good drum set but it saves you alot of time using an electric version at gigs, church events ect.
