Alesis HR-16 Drum Machine from 1987

Showing some of the sounds from this Alesis drum machine from the 80's. Not really much to say about this one. There are some cool circuit bent HR-16s out there but this one is just stock.

I had that EXACT piece of equipment in the 80s. And an Emax from Emu Systems. And a Tascam 8-track mixer. So fun.

My industrial band recorded an album with this drum machine back then. It sounded like canons going off. Of course, we were running it through a midiverb too.

I have two, one original, one with chip replacement. The 16 and the 16 B. Recently had the expression slider fixed on one of those. I play them as a unit with a CZ-1. Hilarious what you can do with this combination. Great for live.

I had the hr16 B as well ,unfortunatly i ve sold the hr 16 B for very little money back then ,and years later after dusting off the hr 16 ,to find it would not come to life ,i threw it in the can ....to realize today i shouldnt have done that 😂...at that time i didnt see the " value" of it .

I love this but the only sample that is useless is the finger snap, literally one hand that sounds so weak not even a powerful one like the Kong M1 single one that got used a lot

Is it possible to use swing and offset at the same time?

Probably. To be honest I never use the offset and rarely use this machine. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
