Hey all, on watching this back I realise I talk about having Bluetooth or wireless functionality to connect to headphones or speakers, the reality of that would be pretty terrible as there would be a delay from hitting the pad to hearing the sounds, so it’s not really practical. A guy can dream though. 😅🤘🏻

I’ve been playing for 30 years, just bought one of these kits for the sake of space saving and noise reduction so the issues with the pedal/snare stand won’t effect me as I already have my own stand/pedal that I can use and well happy that I caught your video so I can avoid the snare issue from the start!
@TheEdgeOfChairs7 ай бұрын
I put the snare where the module is usually mounted so it is sturdier having two leg support, it also mounts it higher since I'm tall. I then mounted the module on the arm meant for the snare and swung it outside the kit. It's a little harder to reach and see, but it's working out way better this way.
@IansDrumsandBass9 ай бұрын
I've had no issues with the snare, but I've noticed that some people set the kit up incorrectly by having the top toms L brackets on the inside of the rack instead of the outside. That means that the toms are closer to you, and then you have to move the snare too far along the horizontal cross piece towards you, and that's probably where the issue starts. Also if you're a hard hitter with heavy sticks that ain't gonna help either. I agree with you, students WACK drums and then you have problems, I've had no issues with my Max and it's been 3 months.

@@Imbettadenu It's very simple and TOMS AREN'T THE ISSUE - I don't know why they are brought up. Basically on mounting points thumbwheels are facing down and mount point (hole) should be on outside of frame - not inside that is ALL. A mere flip or spin fixes what is a non issue.

Thank you for this fantastic and real world review of the hardware itself. There are plenty of reviews of drum kits regarding playability and such but it was very helpful to see a thorough overview of some of the pros and cons as well as some usage tips. It seems that many of these may apply to other e-drum kits as well. Well done!

The reason bluetooth headphones have never been a thing, with any wireless instrument/in-ear monitor setups, is due to audio latency. No one wants to hear drums play after they've struck them. We are just now starting to reach 10ms "acceptable" latency for the newest Bluetooth 5.3, but it would probably be more expensive for gadgets to install. But you're right, maybe one day it will be fast enough and cheap enough...

Thank you for this. I've had the kit a week and I love it ...but I've already noticed a few issues. It could be my headphones, but I've noticed some of the sounds echo regardless of whether I change the reverb or not. The HH splash also isn't as intuitive as I thought it would be compared to an acoustic kit, which is obv instant.

This and 66Samus reviews of e-kits were really really helpful. Thanks! Curious to know the "importance" of 3-zone vs 2-zone ride cymbals from a learning perspective.
@RhythmRoomMusicSchool3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment and I'm glad it was useful. On a 'real' cymbal you can create three distinct sounds; hitting the edge for a 'crash' sound, hitting the face for a ping sound and hitting the bell of the ride for a more cutting sound, if learning grades, this becomes useful from about grade 5, so from an intermediate/advanced level a three zone functionality starts to become useful. Hope that helps!

For the snare, just buy a cheap snare stand. $25. Furniture risers can "lift" the kit. Buy audio y-splitters to access the other triggers from the toms adding piezo transducers to whatever you want to hit. You can also add low-volume cymbals with piezo transducers. A low-cost Yamaha FP-7210A pedal is a good upgrade too. This kit can really be expanded.

The base pedal has 2 grub screws on the bottom that "locks" the metar bar in place. They are loose from factory and often they will unscrew themselves and will not contact with the bar, causing it to start to slide and come out. Nothing that a bit of loctite can't solve.

I'm quite new to drumming but I feel like one of the points you made make no sense based on what I've heard/read. I get that hitting the pads harder will wear them out quicker but isn't that considered a good thing? I read that a lot of people who play e-drums develop a really soft playing style that doesn't translate well to the dynamics of an acoustic kit.
