This method should work with the wireless adapter using the ghwh controller right? I’ve heard that the only thing that’s not possible is pro drums.
@Truedoogie

I believe that’s correct, yes. You aren’t able to select pro drums but it still works for basic drums wirelessly.

Why did you set the rim and snare to different midi notes? Do 37 and 40 both register as snare hits in the game?

I can’t remember, but probably. The goal is definitely to have the rim or head trigger a snare in the game.

Thanks for posting this.. I have the same alesis kit.. I still notice a bit of latency after calibration. I tried it both ways for audio and video.. both seem a bit off.. anyone else experiencing this?
@Truedoogie
@Truedoogie 2 жыл бұрын
There shouldn’t be any input latency. It’s just a midi signal over wires. Are you sure it isn’t audio/video lag from the tv/receiver?
@apadua2001
@apadua2001 2 жыл бұрын
@@Truedoogie Not sure how to verify that.. I have the PS3 connected via HDMI and the audio is connected through an optical cable to the receiver... I saw another video where they recommend calibrating the latency using the buttons on the midi adapter. I will try that next and report back
@Truedoogie
@Truedoogie 2 жыл бұрын
@@apadua2001 I would suggest manually calibrating and then playing a song with the sound off. Watch how long it takes for the notes to explode after you hit them as they hit the note bar. If they explode after, I believe you turn the latency time up. And the inverse is true if they explode before. After that, play the song with the sound on and close your eyes. Make sure it’s a very repertories part and play by memory and sound only. See if you miss any notes. You won’t be able to really tell if it’s too early or late but it will tell you if it’s off. Is your tv in game mode?

Hello I have a Alesis DM7X kit and just got a Xbox 360 Rock Band 3 Midi PRO-Adapter and I already had a Legacy Game Controller Adapter for Xbox One. Do you have any other adapters? I'm trying to get the midi pro adapter to work with it but do you have another adapter on that to get it to work on Xbox One? I'm very confused on setting this up.
@Truedoogie
@Truedoogie 2 жыл бұрын
Those two should be it. The module makes midi notes, the midi notes are read by the midi adapter, and the midi adapter talks to the Xbox one using the legacy adapter. There may be a button on the module to enable midi out. Also make sure you are plugged into the midi out of the module to the midi adapter.

Hi, i want to connect my Alesis to play Rockband on xbox series s, is that possible and what do i need for it?
@Truedoogie
@Truedoogie 3 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure if all of the Xbox One hardware works on the Series S, but assuming it does, it’s still going to be a hassle. You need two different adapters: -Xbox 360 MIDI Adapter: kind of hard to find -Xbox Legacy Adapter: extremely rare and expensive Assuming you can get those (and they work with the new Xboxes), you plug your drum’s MIDI out into the Xbox MIDI adapter and then plug the MIDI adapter into the Legacy Adapter since the MIDI adapter was made for the Xbox 360 and the Legacy adapter converts that old signal to the Xbox One language. Then it’s a matter of setting your MIDI output notes to the correct values. You just keep hitting one drum at a time while you change notes on your module and see when the correct drum is triggered on the screen.

@Truedoogie
@Truedoogie 3 жыл бұрын
Make sure that your drum pads are transmitting the correct midi notes. Every midi note number that your drums transmit equate to a Rock Band signal. So if you have the drum kit hooked up properly, just keep hitting on one drum at a time and change the midi note on the module until the proper drum triggers in the game and then move onto the next one. You also need to consider how your drum module is getting midi data out. If it is using midi out to the PS midi adapter, and the midi adapter is connected to your PlayStation, then you are set.

Hey so my ride sometimes registers that yellow is being hit, is this because of the setting where blue is open hi hat? And if not should I change my threshold on the hi hat higher?
@Truedoogie
@Truedoogie 2 жыл бұрын
Do you only have one trigger on your ride? Like does the bell and edge count as two different midi notes? I would check that first. If not, I would assume it’s just crosstalk. Unplug your hi-hat and go nuts on the ride to see if you can still accidentally trigger a yellow. If you can’t, it’s the crosstalk. Just plug the hi-hat back in and increase the threshold. I don’t think this is related to blue being open hi-hat since your pads are just sending midi values. Probably just a coincidence.

I will be using the Alesis Nitro Max Kit with my Xbox One S to play Rockband 4. Do I need anything else other than the Roll Limitless adapter?
@Truedoogie
@Truedoogie 5 ай бұрын
I'm not too familiar with the Roll Limitless stuff. Looking at the video for the DIY board, it seems that you can emulate the PDP USB adapter using their hardware and software. The midi adapter isn't necessary since their software just reads inputs and converts them. At least that's my understanding of it. So most likely, that would be all you need, but I don't know for sure.

Midi out from brain to roll limitless (RL), USB from RL to console. You also need an Xbox controller connected to the RL via USB to spoof the drum connection to the console. You should be good to go after that. You will not need the legacy adapter or the Xbox midi controller.

Jamie ... Buying my boys an E-Drum Kit for Christmas. My head hurts for trying to research the parts that you need (or don't) and the ones that work with Rock Band 4 (or don't). Do you have a "parts list" for your set up? That would be AMAZING! Thanks and Merry Christmas! ~ Michael
@Truedoogie
@Truedoogie Жыл бұрын
Hey Michael, So the Xbox is a problem because you need an adapter whose entire job is to take Xbox 360 accessories (in this case, the Xbox 360 MIDI adapter) and translate them to a language that the Xbox One understands. That adapter is extremely rare and expensive. That adapter is used to connect the Xbox 360 MIDI adapter to the Xbox One. Without that dumb expensive connector, the Xbox One can’t even see the MIDI adapter. So you need: -Edrum with MIDI out -MIDI out cable -Xbox 360 MIDI Adapter -Legacy wired adapter -Xbox One From my understanding, the PlayStation does not have this problem. The answer seems to be to get a PlayStation instead of an Xbox and then go get a PlayStation Xbox MIDI adapter. That way you don’t need that stupid legacy adapter. Of course this is inconvenient if you already have an Xbox because getting a PlayStation just for a Rock Band is kind of silly. But it doesn’t have to be a PS5, it can be a PS4. Let me know if that’s clear.

Yeah, the midi mapping doesn't affect the module. If you are hooking your module up to the computer and using a computer based drum library, the midi mapping WILL affect that. But at that point, you just make a Rock Band set and a normal drumming set. Unless the midi notes are system wide, which they might be.
