Great drumming. It’s the only video I’ve found where the drummer is good enough to put the kit through its paces, with high tempos, ghost notes and rolls to really make sure the hardware and sensors are up to task. Fantastic video.

lovely video once again! I've owned a Strike for long while now and even though I hated it for a while, after I spent time with it I learned its quirks and managed to get it triggering and sounding great, got it loaded full of Superior Drummer 2 samples and use it live all the time.

Alesis did replace the center 4” plate with a metal one and upgraded the cones on this kit. I wish they upgraded or moved the wires though because I’m still worried about them. Some of the opinions to mod I mentioned in a video that might help wasn’t done. I’m not sure if it’s because of money and testing but I think it would vastly improve. Hi hat trigger is what they made in module with sounds, not as many in between sound of closed and open. It’s mostly closed or open which a lot people will suffice. I’ve used it on a Roland TD20 and 30 module and Pearl Mimic Pro, it triggers great with them but neither module offer multiple layer sampling which is a plus with Alesis. I still wish they change the power button and headphone volume output.

Simply amazing how far electronic drums have come, since I was using the Yamaha PTX-8 drum kit (late 1980s), with the Roland SPD-8 (octapad). Try Googling THOSE, once!! LOL I'd refused to use the kick pad that came with the PTX-8, so I used the old one that came with the predecessor kit, the PMC-1 (with a little modification, so it would trigger the PTX-8 module). Plus, I used the Roland white triangle 4-trigger pad as a my snare! That kit kicked ass!! I used that kit on the road, for years (that is, until the Alesis D-4 came out)!

I think this might just be my dream kit. Acoustic sizes, decent hi-hat, rims on everything, 3 crashes, 4 toms, loads of kits, not to mention the adjustable tension on each drum so I can properly get it perfectly in line with acoustic rebound. Only thing I’m worried about is the durability, considering Alesis’s track record. Yes, the 1st gen one was the one with all the problems, but apparently people have had problems with the SE as well. But all in all, it’s everything I want in an E-kit for a decent price.

The kit is amazing and if you must spend 500 on a atv ride which is the only issue but i just got a dm 10 2 cable replacement ride for 100 (theyre actually sending me a new one as well) and its perfect! Yes.... Alesis know the ride has issues and breaks. Every else on the money! Quality is great. All previous issues from initial strike fixed. no kit touches this for sound. Not even td50!

Great demo and playing!! I've been reading so many mixed reviews about the hi-hat triggering on this kit (some say it's great and some say they have issues still). Were there any issues with your setup? Is the hi-hat triggering relatively easy to fix? Was the triggering dialed in for this demo?

Hey Jordan, thank you very much! The hihat has improved since the first controller generation with the 2 hihat pads, but still (at least for me) it was not running absolutely smoothly even after I dialed it in for my playing. Kind regards!

I have this kit .. awesome except... for the hi-hat .. no sound at all unless I have it rotated 180 and only open or closed.. no slurp.. had someone who actually knows ekits (my first) check the triggers etc to make sure I'm not on crack and they couldn't get it to work any better either. I got one of these for $1700 brand new because of a shipping error that lost the kit I had purchased originally. I had to wait 4 months to get back to drumming including ordering the first kit that got lost, but the wait was so well worth it. The pads feel incredible, the cymbals are very good, the only issue with them is the bell of the ride has a VERY small triggering zone, smaller than the physical bell of the cymbal, you have about a 1 inch or so area you can hit and get the bell sound, even though there’s about an 1 3/4 of physical bell that you could play, closer to 2 1/2 without the washer. That does make it annoying and difficult to play sometimes, but isn’t at all a deal breaker. The Big Bird kit sounds INCREDIBLE and I’ve made multiple custom kits that sound amazing. Kick drum double triggering is an issue if you like to crank your heads, but a patch will help minimize that. Overall, an excellent value and an overall great playing experience!

Hi everyone, does this electronic drumsets provide emulated surdos, metal percussions, timpanis, etc ? I'm actually planning on buying one of this drum sets but my main goal is to find inspiration for orchestral percussions and I can't find any infos on the internet. I guess It has a midi output therefore I could use a VST and asign what I want on the different components but I'm not really sure. I'm a keybord/guitarist myself and don't know much about druming (even tho learning it is something I want to do for a long time now). Anyway, have a nice day :)

I got my SE about 2 months ago. Had to tweak a few things on the hi hat but otherwise haven't had any issues, so far so good. We'll see how things go a few more months or years down the road. This is my first EKit. I looked at the high end Roland kits also, just thought the SE had more bang for the buck. The only thing against Roland is it's very pricey, but they work. Played on one and had no issues. So who knows, down the road I might sell the SE and get a high end Roland kit, or go back to acoustic and get a Sonar. Drum Well, E...

TD27 can sound as good if not even better, you just have to learn how to play with the multiple settings it has, look for TD27 videos of Adrien drums... Personally I hate the crash sounds of the Strike, but that's just me.

Hey Kevin, ok i'll do my best! But keep in mind, my individual choices might not fit anybody's needs (module sounds / features especially). 1) drum-tec pro series + Roland TD-50X / Roland cymbals (unfortunately VERY high endish) ;) -> I am using this at Studio A & on tour, best of the best. If you go for rock / live, Pearl Mimic is also great. 2) drum-tec diabolo series + TD-17 / Roland cymbals (still pretty high endish), using this at my home studio. The diabolos play great with any contemp. module actually. 3) middle class: man there are so many options there, especially since you can mix & match any customized kit configuration at drum-tec (!) EFNOTE kits play great, drum-tec Jam series plays great with any EFNOTE / ATV / Roland module 4) lower middle class: same problem as above actually :) ATV EXS-5 + Roland TD-17 is a nice one. And there's the new Zeitgeist products from drum-tec, that I am very curios to test/demo soon... 5) low budget: any Roland TD-07 kit is good here, I wouldn't recommend any kit "below" / cheaper than this Hope that helps a bit, but remember that's only my subjective opinion ;)

Too bad this kit isn’t playable like this outta the box. You have to adjust settings and turn unnecessary stuff off just to get the cymbals to work and the high hat open, close and semi open and close has to be adjusted in the strike editor app on your laptop. It’s a bad ass flagship drum kit and top of the line in the electric drum world but it’s most certainly NOT a plug and play!! I’ve had mine for a month and still haven’t got to play it cause the cymbals are muting themselves and bouncing from trigger to trigger cause the settings are wrong
