The drum-tec Real Snare Sample package (being a part of the drum-tec Live Sound Editions for current Roland modules) contains only one shot samples of snare head&rimshots for layering sounds in the Roland TD-17 / TD-27 / TD-50 sound modules. It is not a full blown multilayer sample library, and unfortunately not available separately at the moment. Kind regards!

Are the settings used in the module available? My experience with the strike is that its all about settings to make them play naturally. Im thinking of adding these sound for my kit but would probably also need to see how its dialed in.

Hi Marcus, in my experience there unfortunately is no one-fits-all trigger settting. You'll have to adjust dynamics/curves of the pad settings to your individual playing style on any electronic drum module to get best possible results. I have done nothing drastic for the demo, just tweaked sensitivity/dynamic curves to my personal preference. Kind regards!

It´s definately better than the old Strike bass drum pad, but still not the same league as a drum-tec diabolo bass drum, which has a much more natural playing feel & rebound. Yeah bro, thats why i stick with ROLAND, Alesis just never did it for me, its like buying the bargain detergent at the dollar store, you have to use the whole bottel just to wash a few dishes, when u can just Buy a bottle of Joy or Dawn and use a few drops! The alesis strike is attractive , new sexy and appealing, However they Just give too much problems, they break easily and dont sound that great and have alot of flaws, you get a Roland kit and thats all over, Plus Rolands run trouble free for years, I had mines for over 25 years and just played it yesterday for hours! Just know that its Roland that came out with the Mesh head V- drums, Now everyone is trying to Ketchup...Its like like buying pharmacuetical Drugs , it only the originbal manufacturer of that drug that really works! The generics stuff just dont get the job done! Ok you should of got a Roland VAD306 and be done with it! Like i said ALESIS gives you alot for the price point, but they are all gimmicks to draw you in, tons of storage and samples, downloads, beauty , sex appeal, VAD design, if your talking about looks on stage hands down ALESIS wins! But what do real E-drummers care about , we care about precise triggering, crystal clear samples, smooth felling , good rebound, and most importantly durability and reliabilty! You aint going to get that in Alesis trust me i know , i played them all, Alesis will fail and in short order too! Also the ROLANDS have a very good resale value, try that with a Alesis you probably have to end up giving it away! Its ROLAND OR NUTTEN! Plain and simple!...

Great playing, sounds, and demonstration. I'm trying to decide between the Alesis Strike Kit (not pro) and the Roland Td17kvx, and am wondering which more closely emulates the experience of playing an acoustic kit. I've watched all of your Drum-tec Sound Edition demos for both of these modules. They all sound great, but the sounds on the Roland seem fuller and more organic to me, more like I'm in the room with them, whereas the Alesis also sounds great but more processed/EQ'd, which I suspect would make it not sound/feel as close to playing an acoustic kit as the Roland, but might sit better in a mix. What are your thoughts on this matter, as someone who has played both modules/kits? Which one do you feel offers a more acoustic-like sound/responsiveness/fun-factor? And do you think the first snare sound in this video (which I really like and has a great "ring" to it) could also be achieved on the Roland, or something very close to it?

Hi, I personally think, that overall playability & triggering of the Roland modules works better than with the Alesis module (especially hihat triggering & dual zone functionality on pads/cymbals). That hi-hat (if you can call it that) and all the miss triggering was driving me nuts.I had hoped they improved a bit. It’s a tempting offer. A lot of drum for very little money. I’m wondering what your thoughts are on the upcoming Roland VAD 503 vs ATV artist series? I’ve heard the cymbals on the Roland are now static so you can muffle them with your palms. @@Sethy22 Hi, the "touch" choking feature only comes with the CY-18DR digital ride in combination with a TD-27 or TD-50 sound module. The other new cymbal models have the same functions as the older models, but have a different surface & are a little thinner. And I'm not talking about the sounds. I mean it seems to play great. I hear dynamics, ghost notes, etc. It sounds as good as when you demo a Roland kit... So is the 'triggering' just a difference that you sense because you are a professional player who has a ton of side-by-side experience with these kits? Not that I can play quite like you, but I would be happy to spend $3,000 and have a kit that plays like this, instead of paying $6,500 (I'm in Canada) on a Roland VAD model with one less pad that, to me, plays the same by the sound of it..... So is there any way you can clarify what difference an amature like me would perceive? Cheers!

The sound of the demo was recorded directly from the module's stereo output without any further editing. You can change volumes of the single instruments rather easily using the Strike module's physical faders. Kind regards!

Can this module have SD3 run through it? I'd like to hear this kit with SD3 if possible. If you're on lock down, maybe do a SD3 and SSD5 side by side? There's an idea... You guys make money off videos (not a bad thing). Do a series for most brands of Vdrum AND software. So in this case... Pt1: Alesis strike All demo kits + bonus custom Pt2: Alesis strike SSD5 (Steven slate drums 5). Pt3: Alesis strike SD3 (Superior Drummer 3) There are more software drums out there, so you could easily carry this a few more episodes if they work with the module. I also like the idea of having bonus custom kits you guys make because we all know the demo kits are usually horrid... Show us what say two kits YOU like can be like with stock sounds. All playing, no talking, just some screen text like you do. That's like... a lot of videos... Roland TD-___ , Perl ___, 2box, Alesis and so on.. Thanks for the demos either way.

You download and get an email with instructions but it's really straightforward. Basically you just connect your module to your laptop, copy the files across and they're instantly there in your module's user kits. Got my Strike Pro SE over xmas and am having a blast. Enjoy!

The biggest weakness with Alesis is their cymbal samples are absolutely atrocious but everything else sounds pretty good

Hi, yeah still the new Alesis Strike SE is by far not on par with Roland/drum-tec triggering/playability sadly. But at least it has improved from the previous Strike Pro version I think! Kind regards

I feel for you man. Hopefully you can sell it and get a TD17 or something. Based off the looks and the sound in the module and the sheer size of this kit, I really thought I wanted it for a while. I just had this nagging feeling that it was a bad idea because of Alesis' EXTENSIVE track record of bad quality uh... everything. Glad I waited.
