He’s a fucking machine. Not enough people talking about how technical and creative this dude is. One of the best of our time for sure.

I thought I was the only one thinking this. I was at this show and seeing him play live is something else

I really like his playing, personally. But I just saw his first nice playthrough video...that I had seen...and it was uploaded like 2 months ago. I think people have just been sleepign on Erra in general, they are fantastic though so hopefully people start coming around

Lo que me agrada de Alex es que toca exactamente las canciones como en los discos.

Is anything other than the drums actually live?
@stickwithit6 жыл бұрын
densammesamme nah this is audio synced, but the rest of the band is equally on point live!
@densammesamme6 жыл бұрын
I see. I dont wanna sound like a prick, but if the rest of the band are equally on point why just dont have full live sound?
@stickwithit6 жыл бұрын
densammesamme no worries, you're not a prick, that's a good question. It's mainly because coordinating with NYC audio engineers in venues that want to charge $$$ for video and a board feed for audio is kind of a nightmare. Grammercy theater asks for $150 per camera and $2000 for audio. Irving plaza has a similar policy. These fees are mainly to capitalize on artists that want to shoot high budget live music videos/comedy specials/ other special events. I try to keep things low key and reduce the amount of gear I have for shows like this. Hope that clears things up!
@densammesamme6 жыл бұрын
It does, thanks for the clarification. Never knew that venues actually charged for filming but i guess it makes some kind of sense.
@stickwithit6 жыл бұрын
densammesamme no doubt. It definitely keeps things interesting. I miss filming at venues like Webster hall that we're chill after about that kind of stuff. They were recently bought by Barclay's Center and closed for rennovation, so goodbye to that. haha. Most of my videos were filmed there before this.

Really stiff playing

Check out Chris turner from oceans ate alaska. That dude is a monster but is really stiff due to a back/spinal condition though.
@austincooleymusic5 жыл бұрын
I’m a “stiff player” too it’s for accuracy, timing and hard hitting especially. We have to project. Not all of us are big heavy monster dudes that can just drop their arms down and it sound good lol. You know what I mean. I may look stiff but I’m comfortable and feeling powerful. Plus when I was young I heard someone say smack the fuck out em boi lol 😂
@ArborGeist5 жыл бұрын
@@austincooleymusic I'm a hard hitter but I'm also over 6 ft and 225 lbs lol. I get people critiquing a drummer's posture bc they want them to stay healthy, but the end of the day it's what makes you play you're best. i've done plenty of dumb stuff to my body over the years but learned from it. Alex is a killer drummer.
