Totally agree with you. 👍Alex is a great guy and a nice player, victories against him are much less satisfying than usual. But this is the harsh law of tennis, it is a sport that does not give discounts to anyone, not even friends.

I respect his ability to acknowledge that Sinner was just on another level, some guys might make excuses and such but he kept it real, Sinner is a monster and like he said in conditions like tonight It's nearly impossible to penetrate him consistently, having to battle not only his heavy spinny balls but also trying to attack through his very flexible Djokovic like defence that leaves some big shots coming back with interest, it takes a goliath effort to defeat him which is why for the last 36 matches only a peak Alcaraz performance has been able to do it.

Dear Alex, although I am a Sinnner’s supporter I sincerely confess that you are the kind of player and man that I admire and respect for your genuine bravery and behaviour on the court it doesn’t matter what and when. I am a former (old) National tennis player and could easily be your father, thus I would have wished you to be my son. I am conveying to you my encouragement to make you feel proud of yourself and to continue to seek for the peak of you. The tennis world needs players like you!

My nine year old loves tennis (to watch). He watched all your games in the Open and really thought in his innocent mind that you could win this. In the third set I heard him sniffling and went out - he'd been silently crying and worried that you would lose. I had to hug him and he cried like that for the rest of the set. When you finally lost, he cried so hard - so so hard! We become numb to loss because we need to learn to lose graciously, but let me tell you, my son cried his eyes out and so you can know that somewhere in the world, there was someone releasing all your disappointment. I had to take him for a walk in the night time to and let him know that you'd be alright, and then find this to show him that you're alright. It's important not to become too enmeshed with sport, it's your life and your loss, but he really felt it for you. You're an inspiration and a likeable guy to so many young kids. Thank you. Blessings to you and your mum - and best of luck.

Sinner fan here, and my commiserations for a great player like Alex. Especially in the first 2 sets he tried everything giving his best, which would have worked fine with 99% of the top50 players. Not against Jannik, unfortunately for him. He needs to hope he doesn't end up with Jannik in the draws of the next Majors. Alex reminds me of David Ferrer. He was a great competitor. Unfortunately, Ferrer didn't have the weaponry that could hurt the Big Four and Stan The Man. These players had strong serves and a groundstroke, whether backhand or forehand, that consistently damaged opponents.

Simplicity is the highest point of every art in this world. Sinner made it there. Simple, fast, efficient, short. Amayzeeng!!! I am Novak fan. Novak has another dimension in his game and his chance to beat Janik is in his strategic way to think, work and act. But this way to play....... I have never seen anyone to play like this. Nadal called Novak machin, in one of their periods. This is machin too. This is unik. Alcaraz is so behind him, just now.

Australian media should go hard on 'another' tennis player that talks too much and achieves too little. De minaur might not be an extraordinary talent, but he is a top 10 player, very consistent and gives Australia a good image of their country on the international field. And he can get better, because he's young and he is a serious hard worker.

To be honest, Alex doesn’t play bad at all today. He play way better than the match with Cerundolo. However, Jannik level is too high today. Give Alex lot of pressure and he make an error try to hit a difficult shot. I was there today, Jannik even move to the spot before Alex hit the ball, seem like he know straight away where Alex will hit the ball too, too good to be real.
@linzhao2235

@KhunDet Yeah unfortunately the reality is when you play a player like that and you are expected to lose badly after giving your best there's not a damn thing you can do about it. Sinner would've won even if he dropped his level today by like 30%. QF result is still a very good run for Alex! I'm sure Katie is smiling from behind.

I sympathise with de Minaur, but he shouldn't be too hard on himself. In a tournament where you're seeded 6, then getting to the quarter-finals is where you're expected to get to. If you get any further then that would be a huge bonus. The fact that he was drawn against Sinner (1st seed) in this round obviously strongly reduced his chances of continuing. Like de Minaur said, he can get better against Sinner, he just needs to find his weakness (if he has one!)

Alex De Minaur is remarkably composed even after losing the match. He is a great player. He deserves every bit of applause for his spirited challenge against Jannik Sinner. Lots of love and respect to you for your amazing sportsmanship and best wishes to you for all your upcoming matches.

Love De Minaurs game but the game went up another level tonight in power .. you saw it in the hinged wrist shot where you generate so much power . Alex will get better no doubt about that .

Great interview - such honesty by Alex. Whilst he is clearly hurting from the loss, he is still full of praise for the way Jannik played.

Alex will go on his journey this year, and do his best. Sinner is number 1 in the world,the best. Alex is ranked 7th in the world,and the press should be praising him for what he has achieved, give him a break. ❤❤❤

Don't be so downhearted, Alex! You're a wonderful guy and I've enjoyed your play so much this tournament. You were fantastic against all other players. But Jannik is Jannik, look at his last season, it's historic what this guy is doing.
