since spotify removed this song i just wanted to say that while yes this song is controversial, i think its really up to interpretation. as a CSA survivor songs like this one are rare the way that they hit close to home. i think alex was trying to write something like this not to be edgy and dark, but to shed a little light on a very sad issue that tons of people especially women face. millions of children suffer from this and writing a song from their point of view hurts but in a way that has the potential to change the way people think.

To me, this song is sang in the perspective of an older kid thinking back on older memories where as a child they were s3xually @bused. The child doesn’t know it yet and thinks this is love and this is the only form of love they’re experiencing. As they grow older they realise what that ‘love’ really was that’s why you hear an older voice shout “Leave me alone” over the child’s “please don’t leave me alone” to show how they’ve grown to realise and hate the person doing this too them. Alex G’s lyrics rlly make me think.

I’m autistic and I have always had issues with self worth and empathy, mainly being to empathetic. I really hated the idea of making people worry or making people feel bad in general so I avoided it at all cost. I couldn’t really socialize with the other kids my age well most of my friends were around 2-3 years older than me. I would let my friends get away with a lot more than I should have. I let them touch me even after I tell them not too, I never told on them, I never complained, whatever it would take for them to not leave me I was willing to do. After a while I thought it was normal to be sexually abused and assaulted. I was so unbearably lonely that I allowed myself to be abused by multiple people just because I didn’t want to feel any worse than I already did. I thought that I had to always please the people around me if I wanted them to stay. Cocsa fucking sucks that shit is one of the main reasons I developed borderline. Anyways time to get back to playing this on loop and crying because it reminds me a little to much of myself
