Hi Peter, Thanks so much for posting this for us old boys of Alexandra Boys High I left Alex in 1980 our cross country team back then used to be unbeatable. Basketball was only just taking off, they didn't even have a proper court. I still love South Africa and always will but prefer to live with my memories, Its a shame to see so little money spent on the school since it was built. Its just a reflection on the general state of the economy. South Africa still has a long way to go before it gets back to its former self. One day it will for sure, they have lots of mineral wealth You will never know how pleased I was to find your clip... its very special. Thank you, thank you... :-)

class of 2010 here this video brings back so many memories, I could almost feel that hot dry friday afternoon weather. I wonder where I was that day because I was still in grade 10 when this was filmed. I was probably out on the road running with Miss Mathfield

Hey Jordan - this was after school time so hardly anyone around - not overly sure on the day I was there but it was quite empty from what I remember.

Hi - glad that I brought back some memories hope they were all good. Yes SA has issues with crime but I would not let them hold you back from a good visit that's for sure. I had an awesome 6 months back in SA/ Africa and after I got back to the UK I was and sort of & still am contemplating heading back as I do so love the place. Who knows - only time will tell.

No idea how I came accross this. I was at Alex from 1968-1972 as a boarder (with Ula whom you mentioned) and have never been back (and never will - live in New Zealand now). Apart from the tree growth and a few new features - not much has changed really. I suppose many of our teachers would have passed on by now. I do recall the ocassional bunking out on Saturday nights when drinks were less than 20c, and one would blow ones entire 25c a week pocket money on a beer and slap chips.
