I like that Alex calls it a vibrato arm. That’s what we all should call it.

Allan Holdsworth - the guitarist’s guitarist
@AbraãoDeus-q9o14 күн бұрын
Good guitar. Music horríble.
@theunclemeat32845 ай бұрын
Glad to hear Lerxst say Holdsworth played like a sax player: I've often drawn that comparison myself, because of Allan's unique phrasings and odd construction. Nobody played like the late great Allan Holdsworth, and I'm fairly sure no one ever will. By the way, great to see Alex in this interview, he seems to be doing fine (I hope he does). When I first picked up a guitar, Alex Lifeson was my hero and meant so much to me. He still does, I owe this man a lot...

Allan's guitar hero.....was Coltrane.
@lex.cordis3 ай бұрын
True. In my opinion, Allan far surpassed Coltrane. I mean, listen to _Low Levels, High Stakes._ Not to mention his chordal playing and just his ability as a composer. Allan was the greatest to ever do it, out of all instruments. My opinion, of course.

Every guitarist that fans think is the 🐐 rank Holdsworth 🐐... everyone from McLaughlin to EVH to Shawn Lane to Vai to Gary Moore to Alex here.. coincidence I don't think so

Gotta get guests full guitars in shot. You can’t see his picking hand and he’s talking tremolo vibrato.

I so agree that Holdsworths guitar sounds like a sax. Especially in " In the dead of night. "
@danielfowler945914 сағат бұрын
It emulates "vibrato", a singer's tool. To make the guitar, "sing".

The Edge??!
@MikeFlood-oe3tu2 ай бұрын
exactly what I thought... what interviewer would suggest Summers and The Edge as having an influence on Lifeson? Gimme a break. It would be the guitarists who came before him, or his earliest contemporaries - like Steve Howe... and Holdsworth is one of those as well.

Ricky to the hotel clerk ...."I'm taking this man in he's a male prostitute" Alex in his bathrobe getting wheeled out of the hotel on a luggage dolly🤣 that was great LoL I didn't care much for "Trailer Park Boys" until I saw that episode, incidentally Bubbles is a real decent guitar player 👍

Yep for some Fin’ Rush tickets and if I’m not mistaken ( it may have been another episode as TPB had tons of Rush references) the hotel room number was 2112!🤘

Yet another great rock/progressive rock guitarist, himself very influential, who was very influenced by Allan Holdsworth.
@AbraãoDeus-q9o14 күн бұрын
Esse cara só entrou no Rush porque os outros caras queriam aparecer mais, então arrumaram um péssimo guitarrista só para cobrir os espaços. Cara ruim, técnica ruim. Péssimo.
@JohnDaubSuperfan3694 ай бұрын
Pretty obvious that Chris Shiflett has never even heard of Holdsworth, if he had he'd probably be a more interesting player.
