13:39 I think the biggest thing Ryan did to gain the community was by giving the Utah community free access to watch Jazz and has funded programs in Utah. He just shows that he cares about the fans, he understands the importance of building a community. He understands that spending money on the community then the community will come back with their support (with their money) back.

I live in Salt Lake City. We are excited to have the NHL here and I feel Ryan Smith and his team will make it a successful transition. I do feel bad for you and all of your fans and wish you nothing but the best to get a team back in the next five years or so. You deserve a team in the desert!

Agree 100%. Alex Murello’s presser was the first time I saw your owner speak. He's a clown. He inspires no confidence. I understand now why he failed so badly. And the contrast between he and Smith is night and day.

You can see how they didn't pay their bills and Murello seems like someone who browbeats his staff. What a disaster of a press conference.

Awful. He’s asked about if fans will get refunds and what will happen to Tuscon with the Roadrunners being planned to relocate, and he says “give me a break. Give me a little time to rest.” He is so out of touch.. he has no care about the negative effects his decisions have on real people.

New hockey fan from Utah here. If you guys did an episode breaking down the roster, both NHL and AHL we would all LOVE that!!!

They said they are going to do a show that breaks down all the current players and other hockey aspects of the team in the next few weeks
@fenwayfan42978 ай бұрын
Also enjoy the team and hockey. You’re gonna fall in love with it when you go to your first live game. There’s nothing like it!

They are doing the show tomorrow morning that’s a deep dive on the team

I've spent hours listening to this podcast as a new fan of the team in SLC, and I've been blown away by the quality of the coverage. The prospect of it ending is heartbreaking! I can't imagine it's realistic, but I'd pay some pretty crazy subscriber fees to relocate these fine journalists with the team.

You guys are just talking hockey the 3 of you are very knowledgeable o hope you continue your podcast .

I’m a Vancouver guy living in Charlotte, NC. I’m thrilled my Canucks are back in the playoffs. I hope they surprise me and go deep. On the AHL side, my dream matchup in the Calder Cup finals is the Roadrunners vs. Checkers. Long road for both teams, but it would be incredibly fun for me. I’m going to be in Tucson when the second round will be on, and I’m hoping to catch a game or two.

Considering that they started perusing this avenue on March 5th, they have already accomplished more in a month and a half than the Arizona franchise has in 13+ years. Very impressive.

Shane Doan needs to assemble an ownership group and buy the defunct franchise and resurrect (PHX style) above and beyond that previous owners have attempted to do.

Only problem is the NHL made it clear if yall want hockey in AZ it's only gonna be with Murello unfortunately

Aww feel so bad for arizona losing it's team, great podcast btw. as an oilers fan we almost lost our team which would have been heartbreaking, good ownership makes a difference Daryl Katz saved our franchise and built us a shiny new arena. More important then conner mcdavid daryl saved hockey in northern Alberta. (although its awesome having conner lol) I hope arizona gets a franchise in the future by a legit owner.

Meruelo demonstrated how he took a team and over 5yrs screwed it up so badly that he was forced to sell. If the NHL ever thinks about granting him a franchise just replay the tape..geez that was something.
@CanadianLoveKnot8 ай бұрын
The arena is mostly out of his control as the lease expired, and the city didn't want them.

I hate it when an executive says he doesn’t want to be the face of his organization. TOO BAD; YOU ARE. The translation is “I don’t want to be responsible.” Meruelo is a failure of a human being and the only way he may actually get the Coyotes back is if ego drags him the entire way, which is an outcome I’m not even sure I want.

You guys are so right about sports ownership in the Valley. The ONLY guy who did it right was Jerry Colangelo. Everyone else is content to field mediocre teams in half-empty barns year after year after year. And then outside markets call us fair weather fans because we’re demoralized by all this and don’t want to bankroll it. FFS

I am just a longtime fan of hockey and suffer through the years of no cup for the leafs. Prior to the All Star game this year Canadian Sports networks spoke that the Phoenix team were given a deadline date of this year's all star game to have a firm plan in place for the team no more extensions. Did you guys not hear those rumours there?
