His life started spiraling out of control as soon as the firm’s accountant told him they knew about his stealing the money from the clients. And then he convinced himself it wasn’t his fault but Maggie’s ….nagging about his pill taking….and Paul’s boat fiasco that became his problem after Mallory Beach’s death and he was sued personally because Paul was under age…it isn’t a stretch because he murdered them that day! And I am sure opioids and alcohol had a lot to do with it! Very sad…but if Paul didn’t video that last meeting at the kennel …he probably would have gotten away with it!

To the Prosecutor....When Alex Murdaugh is saying he doesn't believe the person was even there is because they were incapacitated in some form from their Injuries, therefore they were not able to come info the office or lacked the mental capacity. I honestly believe he planned this for months before he did. I think the ‘threats’ to Paul were what originally sparked the idea. That’s why he thought he could get away with it-and he stared talking about the ‘threats to Paul’ almost immediately. Unfortunately the lies was his undoing. I really thought HE THOUGHT HE WOULD LITERALLY GET AWAY WITH MURDER. Even if it was a spur of the moment - a paranoid moment of thinking Paul and Maggie were against him? EVEN IF he’s acquitted of the Murders, he’s not getting out of jail anytime soon with 99 plus indictments hanging over his head. The Murdaugh name went from something that could potentially ‘open doors’ around town, to being nothing but infamy. I feel for the innocent Murdaugh family members-whomever they are. I also feel for Mallory’s family, and all their/his victims including people like Maggie’s sister Marian Proctor.

USA, what a great nation! A prosecution team outworking a team of expensive defense lawyers, honoring the Constitution, defending "we the people". In my opinion, Alec's demeanor and attitude during his testimony, show he feels and speaks like someone who thinks he already solved his problems and, after the trial, is free to go on and continue living his life. He has been able to get away with this attitude his entire life. IMHO every word of his testimony to his defense attorney was prepared, staged and rehearsed to the minimum detail. Even waiting a while before cleaning his nose was planned. His defense lawyer throws him the questions for him to score the goals, but there are no actors capable of doing that task in a successful way. He really thought that, once again, he would talk his way out of this situation. There is more than enough circumstantial evidence to convict him but IMHO the GIANT elephant in the room was the total absence of genuine tears and words affirming his innocence and never, not even once, shouted and pointed to the fact that "the real killers" of his wife and son are still out there. That should be the most important thing in his life right now, if he was really innocent. The purpose of his life should be to find the Monsters that shot his wife in the head with a shotgun and blew his sons brains off, killing both of them. The words he doesn't say, shows he is an evil cold blooded murderer that deserves what he got: spend the rest of his life incarcerated. Congratulations to the justice system in South Carolina. Congratulations to the Great Nation of the USA.

Love how he thinks he can condense that timeline to fit the story once the video was discovered. Without the video his story works: with the phone in the house, getting up from a nap and txting his wife. The amount of steps he took in the time after the murder could have been explained by saying he woke up a bit late, had to rush around etc. Soon as the video was found none of it made sense.

Very good cross, going with the actual answers, no way to prep for this hard to do on the spot, great job.
@katewilson9183 Жыл бұрын
What! This cross was terrible! After watching this entire trial, I am convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that Alex Murdaugh is guilty of both murders in this case. That said, the prosecution was only allowed to bring in evidence of his financial crimes to establish a motive. They were not allowed to use evidence from these crimes to establish Alex’s character. It’s obvious that’s what is happening during the majority of cross. That lawyer handed the defence grounds for appeal on a silver platter by fixating so much on every client he stole from. Alex’s lawyers are likely holding back their objections to such clear character defamation precisely so they can use it to appeal the verdict. I understand this is not a good man on trial. But I’m annoyed the prosecution actively chose to break the rules laid out in this case. They had more than enough evidence of the actual murders to have won without making this into a inquiry into dozens of financial crimes he’s not even denying.

I know this will sound crazy but hear me out, I fully believe that when he cries and says he would never hurt them, in that moment it's true and he believes it, the tears are real, but that doesn't mean he didn't kill them. I've noticed when people use lying as a coping mechanism, they believe what they're saying at the moment, even if they're negating something else they said or did. So I think he could kill them and cry in grief about it later because his emotions are that compartmentalized.

His body language and wording is what gave it away for me. He always says intentionally. “I would never intentionally hurt them” he can NOT say I did not and would never murder/blow my sons brains out and execute my fleeing wife. The monster Alex did, but both of them must answer to the crime. I believe he is truly sad they were murdered and I believe he loved them but I also believe he loved himself more and thinks it’s justified.
