Folks, this is narc manipulation 101. Alex spent less time on the victims and more time on "me, me, me, I, I, I" and speaking to his family (who he already speaks with at his lesuire on a regular basis from jail.) Also, being the opportunistic preditor that he is, he thought it wise to use the time that was supposed to be alloted for his financial victims, to express the fact he is somehow "innocent" of killing his Wife and Son. This guy is so fake that I don't even think Alex knows who Alex is. His words are empty, and no matter how many times he says the word "sorry" his aura radiates disingenuousness. In a way... speaking today or not, he was damned either way. If he didn't apologize, he would be wrong, and he did, but it's insincere and almost makes me wish he kept his mouth shut. This was just as self-serving as could be. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. In the first 2 minutes I began to think he was doing the right thing. However, the more he spoke... the less I believed what he was saying.

Wow!! I can’t imagine the feelings that might rise in the victims when they hear Alex repeatedly say he cares about them. I’m sure with what he did to deceive them when they were in a vulnerable place and taken advantage of with more power is despicable. It is sickening to listen to in my honest opinion because I hear no emotion in all of this apology. He can say I’m sorry repeatedly, and deny his crimes which he’s been found guilty of, but even as he took a tissue to his eye there was no actual tears because he never even sniffed his nose. Even if snot was running down his face it’s the same as we saw in trial when suddenly calling the victims dozens of times “Maggs and Paw Paw” and felt like bad acting. I can’t get past his interview just after the deaths when he’s sitting in the LE vehicle in totally clean clothes when he said he checked their pulse?? Does he not realize that by looking at the condition of his son alone that would be absurd and that the time the vehicle arrived and the call doesn’t leave enough time to even go check both of their pulses before calling 9-1-1? There are endless red flags that speak against his denial. God is the only one who knows the truth but I feel his denial of these crimes is because of his image he’s worried about above all else. I do actually think he loved his wife and his son, very much, but the person he loved most, was himself. This apology doesn’t feel authentic whatsoever, but God is His only Judge he will face that knows his heart. I hope one day he can reach his own rock bottom because he needs to really “feel” in his soul the pain he has left and scars on people’s lives in addition to the trust of people he had that now likely suffer trust issues that impair their relationships to this day. I see someone hollow, and have throughout all of this who is STILL more concerned about making sure his image is known and cares about how people view him. This apology is very long, and he is still out of touch with reality of what he did to all of these people. I was shocked to hear the judge say that he has only saw him happy and having a good time EVEN referencing back to a pool party where Alex was having fun just a couple of months after his wife and son’s deaths, and how it didn’t seem to phase him. I think the only thing that phases him is his image and I still don’t hear remorse. I hear a rehearsed apology. Bill Pullman portrayed his character extremely well in the Murdaugh 2 part movie that was recently released beyond well. That is the Alex that is truly there. I hope one day he changes his manipulative ways that he is still doing as he proceeds to go through this apology. He does have a right to this apology and I’m glad he is at least saying he’s sorry but I feel this is only an attempt to get a new trial by denying what he was already previously convicted of, and to try to not get as harsh of a sentence. The Judge is wonderful and I hope he can move forward and put all of this behind him and I wish him nothing but the best in life. The words that he spoke to Alex were powerful and compelling. Even then, he shows no emotion in his eyes only a tight clenched jaw from the stress and worry; likely from the embarrassment and image that is being laid out to everyone. The smirk and laugh he has at the end to C Waters was shocking to me. There is absolutely nothing to smirk about. On a side note, one of his defense attorneys always reminds me of one of the Pawn Stars in Vegas. I hope this case never gets re tried because it’s been a very long time coming for justice for the victims and they need to be able to rest in peace. Alex is enjoying this apology. Furthermore, I heard he is in a dormitory style prison with a tablet and even threw his deceased son a birthday party in prison. I have read where life isn’t at all difficult for him in prison, and things needs to be changed in our justice system starting with loss of this technology all the time, and high status in society being able to dictate a prison that holds less than 100 people that is more like a dormitory. It’s absurd!! He is still talking about himself so much during this long apology and enjoying all of this attention. After this, he will return to his cushioned prison life continuing to read fan mail, writing letters, playing games and watching television, play checkers and cards daily even being able to throw his deceased son a birthday party. Is this prison or adult dorm life? He has the audacity to talk about “a sentence longer than he would like?” When he doesn’t even absorb the gravity of the financial strain he put on all of these victims with these financial crimes while he betrayed their trust. He says he thinks about them everyday and feels so bad; yet, as His Honor said it best, he’s never seen Alex not having a good time and happy. That doesn’t match up especially the shocking news about his just a couple of months after his wife and son died, it is implied you wouldn’t even realize it. I know people grieve in their own ways, but his web of lies and deception continue today in his heavy attempt to convince all of these people, and the public watching that there is any sincerity in that courtroom during this apology. He’s eating up the attention like his favorite meal and it’s deplorable. I’m sure, on his tablet he’ll be loving to pull this apology up and watch it several times. I’m so sorry to all of the victims and your families. This has hurt you for years and I’m glad that some of you are able to make that decision that is a “daily choice and a process for some” to forgive Alex so that you can free yourselves from the weight that carrying this would do to you. My heart hearts for what each and everyone has went through. It’s gut wrenching. >>Alex, if you’re on your tablet looking to see comments people have made, I hope you read this one. I will pray for you to come to terms with the gravity of the situation and to be able to feel emotion of what you put everyone through. We all make mistakes and have to come to terms with them but I hope you can repent and truly feel remorse one day that comes with emotion and not words without weight. For example, do you know what betraying people’s trust on that level can do to people in their future relationships? It has lasting impact on trust issues.

Yes, but I see him as genuinely sorry for everything. He's more sober and fairly balanced now. Yes all he did was ridiculous, but he definitely regrets. I don't agree with what the judge said about not seeing anything in him. Naaaw! That was a planned and rehearsed statement. Mr. Satterfield is a remarkable young man. His words were so powerful. - As for the disgusting excuse of a human being who will, thankfully, wear that orange jumpsuit, every day, until he leaves his cell, for the last time … in a box … he feels absolutely nothing.

This isn't an excuse for him but I do believe when he says he wouldn't hurt them when he was SOBER, but when you become addicted to pills you become a completely different person.

Alex, you killed Maggie and Paul, what are you saying? A competent jury found you guilty based on the evidence that was presented, move on, let them rest in peace, the only thing you can do is to ask for forgiveness and please don't start with "It's important to ME".....

It's a Show trial. The law are as Media savvy as everyone else in this world. They lawyers know they'll be portrayed in a movie one day - it's downright certain to become one. So he's let do the big dramatic ending because it's 'cinematic'. He's guilty as hell, but the choreography of the law is now preparing this stuff for the movie.

Every convict is given the opportunity to speak at sentencing but most don’t speak this long (Darrell Brooks spoke 2 hours after killing 6 people and injuring dozens). But,This “speech” is evidence of how truly demented Murdaugh is.

Everyone said something that was very meaningful to us. When confronted with someone who is a known liar and is very good at doing just that, we learn that we can care about someone and not want them in our lives. We also learn that, when someone says they're sorry, actions speak louder than words.

He keeps saying I would never hurt Mags and paw paw. Well I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t have the balls to pull the trigger. The real killers were his crime associates who took them out Mob style. He thought he could use his lawyering to clear everybody…his surviving son also knew about this.

What manipulative narcissist Alex is. Still trying to garner sympathy from everyone so he can rest easy. I wonder if he killed Maggie and Paul because they witnessed Gloria Satterfields death. He called Maggie back to Mosier property from the beach house after her manicure the night of their murders. Maggie was going to divorce Alex. He couldn't risk Maggie coming forward about Gloria's death and ruining his way of life; so he took out both his wife and son.
