Who is we? Lol I had Pereira winning. Nobody in the ufc can stand with Pereira. Nobody. We're talking about a properly hydrated Pereira at 205. That punch barley landed and it knocked hill out cold. Imagine if it landed flush. If Pereira fights Tom at heavyweight he will win if tom stands up with him. The way tom wins is by taking Pereira down and either ground and pound or a submission. But I think Tom's ego will want to stand against Pereira and this will be his downfall.

It's not just ego, beating Pereira on the feet would also just be a massive boost to them as fighters and their personal brand. It's one thing if someone fights Alex and smothers him on the ground the whole time, it's basically what people expect. But if you can be the guy that beats Pereira on the feet, that'd instantly elevate you into being a superstar. The man who beat the monster at their own game. For Izzy it didn't really count since he was already a dominant champ and both him and Pereira are basically considered to be in their own tier of striking apart from everyone else, but for everyone else it's a chance to plant their flag.

What are you talking about? Some of the most successful champions in UFC history only defended takedowns so they could force you to strike with them. Anderson Silva, Chuck Liddell, Israel, Adesanya… Alex Pereira is just the final form. He’s literally built perfectly for a fighter. Exactly like Jon Jones and Sean O’Malley and GSP and Even Conor McGregor for featherweight. Super tall with a strong chest and skinny arms and leg legs makes it really easy to make weight and Use that size for under hooks and to counter takedowns. They don’t need know how to wrestle, just to keep you away from them and then under hook and toss you when you try to shoot. It makes to get super close against the super dangerous opponent that can use all eight weapons

Striking has been the dominant type of hand to hand combat for thousands of years. The UFC popularized MMA with a rule set that favors grappling and wrestling. Effective strikes are limited and often barred. There is a discussion on banning side kicks to the knee. Bam all effective strikes. The UFC bans small joint locks. A simple tactic that neutralizes a lot of grappling. MMA rules, favor grappling. But striking, is the superior form of fighting. And it’s been proven multiple times, by people like Alex Pereira, who are strikers with minimal wrestling and grappling skills. Striking is the most important skill in a fight

You cant say that "its proven by Alex" until we see him fighting the few "serious" mma wrestlers that we know about. We need to see if they will not just successfully catch a leg and ragdoll him near the fences to finish with a triangle choke. The real recognition will come at that moment unanimously by everyone if he get a win against those artists. Till that day, its just stories and theory...

Marco Ruas first well known fight was in 1995, in UFC 7. I’m not considering the very local and unkown events tho. If so, Marco Ruas would be indeed the first complete fighter, because he has fought in the 80’s.

I watched the next few UFCs on Blockbuster VHS and then was able to begin to order them on DIRECTV. I still have a closet full of VHS tapes of those UFC cards. I was a young dumb street fighter back then and today after all those years of experience, I am now an old dumb couch fighter. I saw it from a mile away. Jamahal hasn't beaten anyone and had no business in that ring with Pereira. Jon Jones left a power vacuum when he left. Filling his spot in an aging division led to a truly novel sequence of events which let a 40+ year-old man ascend to the title. Jiri put an end to that nonsense - but he was fast-tracked to the title. Similarly, Jiri gets injured, leaving ANOTHER power vacuum in a talent-starved division. Desperate for an actual contender, Jamahal was fast-tracked to the title - which he got by beating up an old man. Tough guy, big accomplishment... If the UFC had enough warm bodies for a legit top-10 at LH, Jamahal would be a gatekeeper. Now the division has someone who's an actual champion.

Lidell was a wrestler who became a striker. Dan hendo too. Hes talking bout pure strikers
@JakeTruthSnake
@JakeTruthSnake 7 ай бұрын
@@Kennypowers51 Chuck Liddell was an amateur kickboxer before entering the UFC. Liddell wrestled back in college, but he never took people down since way back in college wrestling. There's no takedowns in his amateur kickboxing career, where he had 22 kickboxing fights. In the UFC, Chuck Liddell only defended takedowns from other opponents, and kept the fight standing up, which is why Chuck Liddell is credited with the technique of "sprawl and brawl." Chuck Liddell was the first pure striker in the UFC who didn't shoot to take people down, and didn't try to submit anyone. I feel sorry for you new fans who missed out on the good UFC days. Refs didn't stop fights early. The brawls were insane. Back then it was more of a fight. Now it's more of a sport.

How can you hate this much man? Alex deserves every credit in the world, he is the best striker who has ever stepped inside that octagon that you also stepped in, don't be jealous about it, just swallow it. Don't ever compare him with Nganou, they don't sit at the same table. Go watch Alex's breakdowns and analysis here on yt, it's looking like that you really no SH*# about MMA.

This is what I said in response to a p4p image a few hours ago on a different channel. “I think it’s simply because Islam has more fights in the organization than Alex. If Alex really does make the jump to HW and beats ANYONE ranked in the top 15 he will take the #1 spot for sure. Make no mistake though, if the stars align and the UFC books Alex vs Aspinall for the interim HW belt and Alex pulls off the impossible he will become the greatest combat athlete in history.” Glad you and I are on the same page Chael.
