great way to think about combining scale shapes! gonna try and subscribe. I'm in a gigging band and people say I'm "good! great" blah, blah. It's nice to hear, but they don't know that I don't know what I'm doing. LOL

@@robpayne7148 thanks for watching! Yes, it’s always worth exploring new ways of playing scales you know. That way you might find new ways of playing those notes and avoid sounding repetitive! About not knowing what you are doing, sometimes that can happen! I once talked to Mike Stern about his outside improv over a Dorian chord progression and what he played was so ingrained in his brain that he couldn’t explain to me what it was. Sometimes your playing gets to a point where you just know what works without needing an explanation why. Trust me, lots of player have those moments. You’d be surprised!

Thanks for the video. I found it unnecessarily long (you could have named the two penatonics), but a great tip anyway.

Just naming the 2 pentatonics might have worked for you, but maybe not for other players who might not have the knowledge on guitar that you seem to have to understand the idea behind this video so quickly. Thanks for watching and I'm glad you liked the tip! : )
