Alex Rider Cast Q&A MCM London Comic Con 2019

Alex Rider, Anthony Horowitz's legendary teen spy, is coming to TV - but first he's coming to MCM London.
Exclusive press interview with Otto Farrant as Alex, Guy Burt, Andreas Prochaska, Vicky McClure, Ronke Adekoluejo at MCM London Comic Con 2019 October.
In May 2017, it was announced that ITV was developing a television adaptation of the Alex Rider novels. The series is being produced by Eleventh Hour Films, with Tutankhamun screenwriter and novelist Guy Burt acting as showrunner.[9] Burt adapted Point Blanc for TV. Horowitz will be executive producer for the series.
Sony is looking to break into the young-adult space, recently inking a deal with YA specialist Komixx. "We identified Alex Rider some time ago as we were looking for the right project to take this leap, and we're thrilled it has come together as our very first spec series" Garvie and Le Goy said in a joint statement.

I don't understand why they have to change it? Just take it from the books straight forward. Why over complicate it

You always have to adapt a book for the screen. As they said the books don’t span the same timeframe, which is just one reason.

Because you can't. Transferring a book story to a tv show is impossible. Thats why they are called tv adaptations, they adapt.

This could be a really decent show, if the writing was better. I've never read the books but I'm sure (as with a lot of adaptations) they are much better. The premise is really interesting and with competent writing it could be great. Most of the segments felt rushed and a lot of things were super cliche that you could see them coming from miles away. I heard about this show because of Haluk Bilginer and sadly I feel he could've been used better. He was just a generic villain. I don't like it when villains go into full anime mode and explain all their motives. Also, the actress playing Jack was sadly one of the worst actors I've ever seen. At times it felt like they picked a random person off of the street and gave them a script and said: "Can you read this with as little emotion as possible to the camera?". The best in the first season were, excluding Haluk Bilginer ofc, Alex and Kyra and the black dude in the agency. Episodes 6 and 7 were great but the finale was a dumpster fire. I know they can do good with this show so I'm gonna give the second season a chance but they need to convince me in one or two episodes.

Writing this 4 days after the series has come out. It's amazing! So so much better than the movie and the fact that he becomes a man makes it great.
