Alex Rudinger - DIMMU BORGIR - "The Serpentine Offering"

OK, so, to be totally honest... this wasn't really my first choice of Dimmu songs to cover. I always figured that if I ever did a Dimmu cover, it'd probably be something off of 'Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia' (😂😂😂). & being that I didn't have access to any stems from that album (or any Dimmu album, for that matter), I didn't think I'd ever do a Dimmu AT ALL to begin with (LOL).
But as I've mentioned in a few other video descriptions, a homie from my Patreon / Discord Chat has access to a whole BUNCH of random stems. He sent me a list of everything, & "The Serpentine Offering" happened to be on it (literally the only Dimmu song on the list)! Needless to say, I asked for them! 😂👌🏼🤘🏼
So while this probably wouldn't have been my FIRST choice of Dimmu song's to cover, it was my ONLY choice. Lol! Besides, 'In Sorte Diaboli' still RULES (the album this song is from), & I was just as into it as 'Puritanical' back in the day. So here it is - another 'Reliving-My-Early-2000's-Extreme-Metal-Favorites' drum cover ! 🤣🤙🏼
& just in case someone from #DimmuBorgir ever sees this (which I kinda doubt, but hey you never know. Lol!)... hey Dimmu peeps/members... if you ever need a fill-in drummer, pls let me know. B/c I could die happy if I ever got the opportunity to put on corpse paint, sit behind a huge double bass kit, & play Black Metal. Even if only for ONE tour. L O LLLL!!!

Mix was done by Declan White! I seriously love what Declan is able to do with the drums that I track here at home. It continues to impress me. Drums are all natural except for the kick (which is a blend of mic & trigger). I think this might be the best my Lars snare has ever sounded, actually. LOL.

On your drumeo session, you talked about how drumming helps you to deal with mental problems. For me, as a person who experienced many of these things as well, it was super motivating to hear these honest statements from One of my drum heros. After staying away from drumming for about 10 years, i recently find my way back to the drumkit - and i can confirm that it is soothing! I did a cover of "The Serpentine Offering" as well, its the very first drum cover i ever finished and it was sooo hard for me after 10 years of no drumming. But it also felt very healing. Watching you now, surprisingly performing just this song makes me speechless! You are an awesome musician and personality Alex! Greetings from germany! ; )

This is an excellent comment man. I played drums from when I was 11 right up until I was about early twenties regularly. The onset of mental shit came after that now that I think about it. I can't drum atm due to living in an apartment and my kit is in my folks, but i've noticed kickboxing has definitely helped me! But I'm going to look into getting an electric kit or just moving to a place where I can soundproof and have a kit / get back into a metal band.
