I think he got a fair shot. Not a good shot nor a bad shot. Just a fair shot. You're correct that in his early 49ers days he dealt with way more than a young QB reasonably should if the goal is to properly develop him. On the other hand, he got to stick around for much longer than most QBs would have given his performance. Few QBs with his early struggles stick around beyond 3 years and he got 6 before a competent staff finally arrived. His situation is a bit nuanced.

He needs to take his full time rehabbing on their dollar and retire when his contract is up he’s playing with his life if he goes back on that field.

How is he playing with his life by going back on the field? It was the infection that almost killed him, not the actual injury per se. The chances of such an energy and going septic again is ungodly low.

Alex. I’m a Skins fan and I’ve always been a fan of yours. I was excited to have you on the team and I felt like you were going to get the skins on track. You made me comfortable as a fan of the team. Then you got hurt. For your own sake please don’t come back. You had a great career. Enjoy life with the family. I’d hate to see you again injure this leg.

Smith was actually a very good QB. Not great, but very good. He even had the poor Redskins at 6-4 before his leg snapped

It's not up to you. If he wants to play and another team wants him he should do it, if he feels he shouldn't then he shouldn't play. Your not a doctor so let the doctors tell him what he is ready to do

Glad he is doing well. Smith or Rodgers to the 49ers? Both are great quarterbacks. I would have also selected Smith. His personality is easier to get along with. He did a good job in Kansas City also. Washington was coming along, but then the injury. We are fortunate he survived the infection. Blessings to Alex and his family.
