Hello, what's up everybody? I decided to make this video because I feel like what Alex achieved this year is absolutely incredible and he has been very consistent through the years. In my opinion he was the best dancer of 2021. I've made a mistake in editing and placed the same text 2 times in his battle vs Larry. No question he put a fork in 2021. To win three of THE most high profile dance competitions in the same year is gawdlike, i wonder if it's been done before. Alex is crazy man, he keeps evolving and he's so chill and humble. I still remember when he battled Joseph Go years ago and said he needed more practice LOL. I think people underestimate him and that's why him winning takes them by surprise. He has learned from all of his losses IMO.

No, you're not wrong. He's just an ordinary and classic dancer so if you compare him to les twins or other dancers who really have exceptional skills, it's normal that you find him weak. I think it is also overrated . People no longer know how to differentiate a good dancer from a superhuman and rare dancer, that's why the world of street dance has now become boring 😅 (and it's the same for other dancers)

The best dancer of 2021? I would say the most active while most of the best were absent (so less competition) . The Battle bad is also debatable. But if we take a closer look at Alex's skills it is simple and limited.

probably one of the best dancers atm but as another guy here, he is overrated "for me" . he doesnt take that much risk, originalities compared to others dancers. For exemple his battle against Majid, he was on the same flow, same style for all rounds..

I completely agree. Alex is just the most present dancer right now that's why. Many of the best dancers are on pause or less present but if we compare him to others, he is absolutely not the best. Very good flow but much too classic to be one of the best.

I get what you mean, but Alex is really talented and amazing, although I didn't quite like his performance in SDF 2019, What I like about Alex is his discipline, and the mastery of the basics. The thing is, even though I agree that Alex is boring sometimes, Alex inspires a lot of dancers to master the basics of hiphop and not just learn them. Not to mention, some dancers like les twins have been adding other styles like popping in hiphop battles, it's crazy how Alex is this good without incorporating other styles in his dance. Alex is a true hiphop master, while dancers like les twins for me are better fusion style dancers. Atleast Alex's recognition is something I agree with, unlike those tiktok dancers who just do some basic dance then they get million likes. But that's just my opinion.

I respect Alex but I'm nostalgic for the days when versatile and fun dancers were the most popular

Of course it’s subjective. It’s incredible that he won Summer Dance Forever, Flavourama and Battle Bad which are considered as highly respected competitions. Not sure about this but I think he has won every competition that he participated in (2021). Who is in your opinion the best dancer of 2021?

The best of 2021 has to be Kevin Paradox, he’s this close to mastering dance period LOL. And he shows his versatility everyday on his IG, if not him Slavik from America, he has also won battles also the choreographed live TV dance competitions and won those as well. Also he’s filming a hip hop dance show, which IK a lot of ppl are gonna be hating, but as long as it brings hip hop dance back to our neighborhoods thats thee hugest stepping stone. That’s big. there’s more to dance than just being BBoy which I feel like he should go dance for Red Bull. He’d be a perfect fit, but when it comes to style he only has basic hip hop which I can tell he’s labbing and learning continuously and advanced tracing and floorwork. That’s it. What abt litefeet, popping, locking , voguing , Jookin, animation , dimestops, the feeling of the dance? ,,, not pointing towards your head and be like “musicality” , I just don’t see it in him yet, I see him slightly better than rubix, and y’all blew rubix up and now look where he’s at , stuck. He’s gonna get better, everyone has room for improvement. Rubix is gonna come out better than him for sure. PS his movements is thee furthest from sharp and precise, which is scary bc that only shows when he fully develops these moves with his styleee,,,,,, that’s gonna be scary and when he goes more choreograph dominant and not floor work dominant he would be the best hands down. Something with rubix his choreography is repetitive and he relies on his power moves.

@@genoatherevenger I can’t argue with you thinking one dancer is better than the other because you perceive dance in a different way than I do. But one thing we can measure are accomplishments and based on them, in the battle scene, I have put Alex on top. And if we are going to choose the best dancer of the year, looking at accomplishments in battles is the most objective way. Kevin Paradox didn’t battle in 2021 at all due to his injury (most likely) and Slavik has been out battling but not necessarily winning. Alex is a Hip-Hop dancer and he is constantly labbing because there is always room for improvement and because of dancers like him (who are mastering 1 specific style) Hip-Hop will constantly evolve. Alex might not be a high level at popping, jookin, animation… but he can battle and teach Hip-Hop at the highest levels. Slavik, on the other hand, is a very versatile dancer but tell me in which style can he compete at the highest levels? Can he hold his ground against Tight Eyez when it comes to Krump? Against Greenteck when it comes to popping? Against Alex when it comes to Hip Hop? The answer is no. Don’t get me wrong, he is very talented and I am looking forward to him developing in Krump but him and Alex are currently on different levels if you compare what they achieved, not only in 2021 but in general in the battle scene.

@@moudzy101 well said, there is strengths and weaknesses and everybody, I just don’t want the next generation of dancers to think that all it takes to become the best dancer in the world is to become a bboy, if you don’t know there’s is 8 types of dance and “breakdancing” is completely different from “Hip Hop” we just gotta remember that. That’s all, however there is multiple types of Hip Hop and I guarantee when it comes to absolute hip hop, the majority of our top 5s would get smoked. When you say “dancer“ we have to consider all styles. “ Bachata, Hip Hop,Salsa, Indian dance,ballet, strip dance/voguing,rock n roll and lastly break dance

Can someone explain to me why he is a good dancer from an actual dancing standpoint? I watch him dance and he's smooth, but I have trouble actually tracking his musicality. Maybe it's because I don't have the understanding to see how good he actually is.

So musicality is free flowing without forcing beat kills. What you like are the kodak moments where everything is premeditated and flow is sacrificed using resets to get the big moves.

@@paharnickrb That awkward moment when you realize Alex has no “big moves” except a cartwheel so he gets sympathy points from the judges for always doing the same routine. I’ve never seen any other dancer style except HipHop where the comment sections are full of genuinely bewildered people who can tell that Alex’s dance style is dogwater, yet he still wins. That doesn’t happen in Breakdance, Popping, Animation, Litefeet, House, All-style, Ballroom dancing, etc.
