That's very true, Max does have good T.D.D. and yes his movement is superb, but if you can effectively cut down the Octagon and not allow Max space, as Poirier demonstrated in their fight, he's vulnerable. As I've already said in a previous comment, one of Volkanovski's main training partners is Izzy Adesanya, who's movement/footwork, IMHO are better than Holloway's. You're also right in saying that it's a very tough task for Volkanovski.......it is, but it's a task I feel he can conquer.

Alex will need a furious pace but I see Max jabbing and moving to quell the advances. The TD def. will set the stage because it will be a big expenditure for the challenger. Hoping for a competitive fight, I like them both.

Keith Whalen why do you think he doesn’t have the punching power of poirier? I actually think he matches/surpasses the punching power of Poirier, despite being lighter. You people got no clue about body types and builds. Alex is compact,stocky unit that generates bricks in his hands when he hits, take into account being 215”lbs in rugby playing against guys 2x the size of max and it all comes in nicely. His core strength is out of this world and far exceeds any featherweight. He will be able to bulldoze max across the octagon and beat him against the fence in the clinch. Watch and see what happens.

His range control, precision and timing are better than Volkanovski's, but Alex's range control, precision and timing are still legit. In terms of power, I'd say that Poirier's and Volkanovski's are very much on the same playing field. Out of 25 professional MMA wins, Dustin Poirier has KO/TKO'd 12 opponents. Out of 20 professional MMA wins, Alexander Volkanovski has KO/TKO'd 11 opponents. Now comparing both fighter's resume's, wouldn't you say that Volkanovski's and Poirier's KO ratio's are practically the same? As I've said before Alex used to be a former Rugby League player, so whatever pace Max set's, Volkanovski isn't going to be fazed one bit. He himself has top notch cardio/gas tank. Again, as I've already said in a previous comment, one of Volkanovski's main training partners is Izzy Adesanya. When you constantly train with a striker of that caliber ( the best striker in mma, one of the best strikers in world combat sports ) on a daily basis, are you not gonna tell me that your striking /stand up isn't gonna be elite for MMA standards? Adesanya used to be a professional boxer too, so his Boxing prowess is far better than Holloway's and Poirier's for that matter. In the stand up, Holloway won't be showing nothing that Alex hasn't seen before.

Everything Alex does is at least above average in MMA and he knows exactly how he has to beat each opponent. This fight will be Max getting high lowed with power boxing, and thunderous leg kicks. Set up and allowed to work because of feinted takedown attempts. Then eventually Alex will shoot and land deep and get solid control time. Alex doesn't struggle under pressure like Aldo and he's just outright better than all of Max's previous opponents on virtually every level.

I'm not counting Alex out, but he's definitely nothing special, just another hungry contender that's basically every top featherweight usually is, he's was pretty much even with an older and done Mendes, the Aldo win was a sloppy performance from Aldo, but Aldo pulled a Masvidal he outskilled his opponent and threw very low volume, thus list the decision. Alex was not better than Aldo that night, Aldo just gave that fight away. So While I do like Alex, he's not going to walk through Max, or outskill him.

As far as fight IQ is concerned Frankie is a shittier version of Woodley. In the fact that they created really solid systems to be able to be successful in the Octagon only problem is Frankie's been defeated by a wide array of different styles. Whereas Tyron's only problem is Pressure Wrestlers with Cardio who can chain wrestle and stay in the clinch. His system though is otherwise perfect in neutralizing his opponents no matter the style. Alex's approach to each fight is Dynamic and designed to nuetralize his opponent, and he makes adjustments mid fight to improve it. That's what the cream of the crop for Fight IQ is in MMA so far. That's why and how Jon has been so dominant. In the traditional sense Alex is to a degree more skilled than Aldo. In the sense that actually matters yes definitively more skilled. He's definitely a better wrestler, his Muay Thai, is worse but it's still very good, his boxing is worse but yet still very good, and they're BJJ I'd day is probably close it's not present much in their fights but it's more present in Alex's. Being skilled in MMA ie being skilled at what matters is being able to implement your tools and win fights with them. We've seen fighters lose to guys who were less skilled than them all the time.

@@gilbertoflores7397 Lamas was a worse boxer had virtually no Muay Thai and wasn't even half as smart or efficient at using his skills. He wasn't remotely even with Mendes he met him with the style that gave him the best chance of breaking him. While Mendes had some success every exchange went Alex's way because it was designed to. He wanted to brawl so he met him with full force because he knew he'd come out on top and he was ready for every takedown. We saw this in Cannonier's fight with David Branch, everytime Rumble fought a Wrestler including DC (I'll explain if you want), all of Chuck's career. Aldo was as sloppy as he always is. He fell apart and flailed when pressured like he always does. When he's not in control of the Pace Aldo reacts with way less composure than Normal and Alex just like Max took advantage of that. He didn't outskill anything he got controlled and manipulated at will. Alex was definitively better that night and you're not doing anyone any favors denying that.
