Volk, as always a class act...but a bit unfair to say that Ilia has got 'a punchers chance'. Only in the same way that, say, prime Conor or Alex Pereira have got 'a punchers chance'. That's their game and it's very effective. And, of those three, Ilia has probably got the best 'grappler's chance' as well. It's just that his puncher's chance is so effective we never get to see his grappling.

I absolutely adore Volk, great human, great champion, awesome fighter... However, him saying that Ilia only has punchers chance against Max and saying that he lost because of that chance is disappointing and surprising. I think Ilia deserves his credit by executing perfect game plan of long combinations. It wasn't puncher's chance what he did but if this helps Volk to get mentally in the place he was before the losses then you gotta do what you gotta do

I think they focus too much on what Ilia does wrong and ignore what he does right because he sometimes telegraphs and overswings a looot, but his speed and shot selection clearly took Volk by surprise. I don't think it's salt, they just underestimate Ilia.
