@JonPais15 күн бұрын
@ Imatest/Xyla result is 15 stops, but the 15th stop is already sitting on/inside the noise floor, so it’s what Art Adams, lens specialist at ARRI, would call a gravy stop - not to be counted upon - whereas the stops above the noise floor are what he calls paycheck stops. Even renowned colorist Walter Volpatto (Picture Shop) calls all that digging around in the noise floor to pull up information a bunch of bull. To see a real test of the Alexa 35, look up Alfonso Parra’s thorough examination. CineD are clowns.

If u got a million dollar light crew you could also achieve those looks easily with a sony fx3. The alexa35 is probably more use to no budget available light projects which ironically can't afford it.
@DaCarnival2 ай бұрын
Being able to achieve a look VS repeatably, easily and comfortably achieving a look, with a full professional integration on set and in post is the difference between an FX3 and an Alexa35. It doesn't seem like a big difference when looking at a camera test, but it's a no brainer at the full-budget level.

@@DaCarnival yeah that’s why 28 years later is shot on iPhone 🙄
@DaCarnival2 ай бұрын
@@lamodification Why would you mention an absolute outlier example to prove your point? Literally every other film at that budget level this year will be shot on a cinema camera, probably 80% on an Arri. 28 Years Later is shot on an iPhone because 28 Days later was shot on a consumer handycam in 2002 - it is super lo-fi and looks like "trash" in the best way. They want a modern way to do the same kind of stunt, hence iPhone.
@lamodification2 ай бұрын
@@DaCarnival it proves perfectly that it doesn’t matter when you got 3 trucks of light whether you shoot on a 17 stops dynamic range cam or on an iphone coz u paint the scene with light how u want it anyway. But it doesn’t matter when you shoot documentary style with available light and 3 gaffers etc. But u would know if you ever did colorgrading, film a doc or a tvc commercial.

I thought it was only me but most of the footage looks very digital, especially the first part.
@DaCarnival2 ай бұрын
That has much more to do with the current trends in color grading and treatment than the sensor. Objectively, the Alev4 is superior in every single way - then you decide on "filmic" nostalgia in post or not.
