Hi, I am facing an issue with Alexa Echo Gen 2 device. I have developed my own custom light devices using Nordic nrf52840 which is Zigbee based MCU and devices are powered through main supply. Now after random amount of time [ for example 6 hours / 15 hours. Time is not fixed ] random devices not responding. If I have a group of 4 light devices and say "Alexa Good Morning" then 2 devices respond to command and other 2 not. And, on Alexa App, it shows "Device is unresponsive". If I again repower means, restart the device, it again works for hours as mentioned above and stops responding after X amount of time. I tried to debug the custom device firmware but unable to figure out the route cause for this. Can you please help me? Thanks Rohit R

Honestly I couldn't tell you. It's very difficult when it comes to custom units. It may be possible that one unit may cause the issue. I would recommend pairing one device at a time and seeing if it stays connected, if it disconnects put it to one side and try another. It's time consuming but it's the only thing I can think of. Hope this helps.

Amazon desperately needs to list the steps like these that actually work right there in their app. Everyone's router craps out once in a while and getting Alexa devices back up can turn into a nightmare. I HATE how Alexa gives you zero steps or even hints about what to do with a "Device is unresponsive" message. There are too many damn things to troubleshoot that have nothing to do with the problem. People are probably throwing away good smart switches for lack an Alexa troubleshooting screen.

I just want to say thank you. I had a Kasa TP-Link plug and Alexa running some bedroom lights. Months ago, for no apparent reason, it stopped working. I have been trying to figure this thing out, with no luck. I decided to give "You Tube" a try and found your video. After following your suggestions, it started working. I'm sure you get this a lot, but you are awesome. I'm not as young as I once was, but you gave me the info I needed to return my TP-Link and Alexa to useful service. FYI, my issue was in the Alexa App. Thank you for your help. Without your help, my TP-Link plug would still be serving as a paperweight.

Same issue, restarted all devices including networking ones, individually as well as in sets, removed linked accounts, apps, devices etc etc. No joy! Was thinking of starting from scratch completely but decided to change the routers base ip address, which in turn resets all device destinations, did the trick for me. Hope it helps someone

Slightly unrelated. However, if you are having the issue where your echo dot says “There isn’t a group or device with that name” or whatever, I figured out that you basically want to reset your echo dot. To do this, put it in setup mode and follow the steps until your device is setup, then try your voice command again, e.g “tv on” and it should work and Alexa should say something like “Okay” and it should then turn on the plug. This in my experience worked, and I am sharing this as I couldn’t find any help online.

Just added 4 new devices to my home and in the process the ability to control my lights completely disappeared except for the commands all lights on all lights off, I have been struggling trying to fix this issue for the last 4 or 5 days then happened upon your video. Out of curiosity I deleted all groups which fixed the problem. Currently all of my devices are named in the original app for the model of the devices and are not part of any room or group in Alexa and everything is working how it should.

I have 8 WiFi outlets, I'm using the SmartLife app to set them up and I can operate each one. I have the SmartLife skill enabled on my Alexa device. I have "discovered" each outlet in Alexa. However, when I try to turn lights on/off in the Alexa app or ask Alexa verbally to do it, I get "this device is unresponsive" and the lights do not turn on/off. I have lights set up in routines, when I give Alexa the command to run a routine, the lights do not turn on/off. Any thoughts?

@@jocelyneronning8865 try a completely different name just to see if it works. Also I've not used those particular bulbs but with hue for example you'll name the bulb in the hue app but you may name the routine something different in the Alexa app. I would make sure that you're using the correct routine name in the Alexa app.

I had problems with my Smart Life app and it would get offline status everytime. Idk what fixed it, but the last things I remembered doing was Settings > Network Diagnosis, and run. that. And doing Clear Cache. And it seemed to have fixed that for me.

Hi. I need your help. I have a Tan Tan plug and it has been working fine. All of a sudden, Alexa says "V's office doesn't support that" even though the device is present in the Alexa app and I can even turn it on/off on the app. I reset the plug through Tan Tan app as if it's a brand new plug. I couldn't say for certain what the issue is. First thing I would try is turning the power off to the bulb and turning it back on, I've found that useful. Failing that delete the bulb from the Alexa app and re-pair it. Hope this is helps 👍

Hello, could you help me with my Phillips Hue light please? I got this Alexa and light for Christmas last year and the light was working perfectly fine until it just randomly stopped working and every time I tell Alexa to turn the light on she says sorry bedroom light is not responding. It’s getting very annoying know because I cannot even do anything with the bulb on the app because it say There was a problem and when I have light on the Alexa app says it’s off when it’s on anyway, I’ve not been able to fix this and it’s annoying me because I have to use the Phillips hue app just to turn my light on and off please help me ASAP

The most obvious is to turn the power off at the wall and sometimes turning it on reconnects it to the speaker. Failing that you could try forgetting the bulb from the Alexa app and go through the pairing process again, shouldn't take 2 min and should work. 👍

Have you tried turning your Alexa speaker off, either turn it off at the wall or unplug the power cord at the back, leave it for a few seconds and plug back in.

Ok. Solve this one and may be my hairs that i havent pulled out yet will thank you. I have globe brand bulb and two plugs. I control them with echo show 5. one plug is connected to a lamp and the other to fan. The voice command works for fan and light perfectly. but when it comes to lamp, the echo show plays a beep sound and shows me the plug interface screen(u know where if you touch the screen and plug will switch on or off). But the lamp would never turn off or on. So far I have reset the plug for lamp, reset echo show and also pulled my hairs out and kick myself on places with unspeakable pain for outcome........so far no luck. help me.

Try unplugging the hue bridge if you have it and the smart speaker. Complete power off and power back on.

Update. So for some reason the lights were connected via Bluetooth and not wifi. That's why the worked on app but not alexa. Not sure how that happened. When I reentered the wifi password alexa now recognized

I've not used those bulbs before. Have you checked to make sure they are updated to the latest firmware within the app. Also you may of already tried it but turning the power off to the bulb then turning it back on can sometimes work.

hello mate. I'm brand new to Alexa ect... I've plugged our extra hood into a Wi-Fi plug and connected it to Alexa through smart life app which is also binded to Alexa and All accepted and recognised. with the Extractor hood light on or fan on at the same time or separately, Alexa will turn it off. I tell Alexa to turn hood on, 'she its on.' i say turn hood light on. I have tried everything imaginable to get my lights to work, They used to work, for about an hour, faultlessly. Now they won’t, I connect them after deleting them and the are unresponsive straight away, I have checked the software for updates on every device, and reset them all using the power supply etc. They do however work on the hue app when connected. Alexa wont change smart bulb colours, if i say change blue it goes pink. All bulbs doing the same. The smart life app will work fine though

@@thebull0957 go straight to the Philips hue app and in the bottom left corner select settings, scroll down to app and select software update, it'll check on there too see if there are any outstanding updates. I personally don't use the smartlife app.
