Well argued. The US has the same fallible solution with affirmative action - leave the pubic education system in poor areas starved of funds and good teachers - and then letting unprepared students into elite universities to fail out. We need to focus on the pipeline.

We like having idiots in charge of our system because they display confidence, charm, and class. People vote for rich people not because those people have more money blasting their names out in the press but because they sound charming. You can't tell I have a Scottish accent lol. Also capping private school entries will burn the entire house down because reasons.

One aspect I hated about uni was that so many people were admitted who were clearly sub-par academically according to the "guidelines," yet administration ignored this (taking bribes).

Talking about how superb the education system is where he was taught and how bad it is where where he wasn't taught? Putting on an Oxford accent doesn't make him any less a Scottish snob and it shows. If privately educated people can put on an Oxford accent, so can the rest, and they do.
