I wish people would stop saying that this isn't worthy of Eurovision because it's nothing like Fairytale. The two songs aren't even comparable; their genres are totally different, their style is totally different, their message is totally different. This is literally the perfect Eurovision song. It's catchy, clever, and not overly complicated. It gets stuck in your head. Not to mention it's AWESOME. Please stop comparing it to Fairytale. It's not going to be Fairytale! There's no way he'd succeed if he kept writing the same song over and over again, and no doubt the comments on that video would say, "I've heard this before! Boring! No way this will make it through Eurovision."

1: Hello, here is 22 other entries just like it. 2: this type of song have been in eurovision before... and was on the last places. So no, it's not just simple, catchy or clever. It's the fact that this is what we hear in the radio when we hear a good song there isn't boom boom and money and s-x and boobs. But it's like. You heard it before. it's americanized and that's a shame because if you have looked the past few years is it songs there follow their country's music there actually have won. Ukraine? You won't find that style as a hit anywhere. Like WTF screaming on stage without any talent is thing. Portugal? they are known for calm songs. Sweden can win with an americanized song because they been americanized in their songs for decades so that's acceptable. Denmark? nah. Need to have some danish rythm to win, just the year with Basil which btw was a similar song (just about love) lost a loooot. Sure everyone could sing to it, but it sounded American. It sounded like Bruno Mars so no one liked it. This sounds like Timberlake, surely getting same place at the judges. I've been pretty good to spot top 3 each year, and I will only say this can go on top 3, if other countries don't do... better. People want calm, weird or different. Who wanna watch something we have seen before? there is plenty of songs like this when you go around on youtube. I have friends writing songs like this? they are just not as popular as Alexander here, but they are still there, writing catchy good tune songs but no one gives a fuck about quality anymore. Just look at the spot Italy took. That song was weird and offensive (yes they didn't do some of the things correctly) meanwhile clever and good songs is overlooked because the judges wants the different and weird or someone who lives in their music. Sorry bab, this will only do if there isn't 3 other songs there will be into what the judges like.

Oof. There's so much hate in the comments section today. So what if this song isn't like Fairytale? That was years ago! Alexander isn't the same person and his meaning for his songs is going to have changed and matured over time. Besides, writing with the same exact style over and over again gets boring to do and to listen to. Sometimes you just need a jazzy, funky beat and I'm on board with this one. It's a very catchy tune, and it's encouraging others to write music and make it fun. It's wonderful. If anyone has good tastes this'll do great in Eurovision.
@Nanominyo7 жыл бұрын
the reality no one has a good taste and will vote on the song there stood most out but there is always a song like this every year so it's no special and you can't sing on to it after one time. You'll have to listen to it multiple times before remembering the lyrics and last time an artist copied a famous artist's style they pretty much lost because they reminded about that artist (Look how it went for denmark the year they held it. Every dane could sing unto the song but in eurovision it lost because it sounded like Bruno Mars(?)) So you'll have to be your own and make something memorable. Fairytale is memorable because the style used there was very norwigian, but this gets an old american style sorta and that's not something different, it's something people listen to everyday

Really? Because let's remember 2016 where everyone sat like: WHY DID SCREAMING WIN? and 2017 did all sit like: "So did anyone hear anything of what he actually sang?" to not mention all the other crazy songs there have been in Eurovision. Eurovison song contest is not so much about talent really, the key to success is stand out. You need to stand out. I can inform there is at least 12 other songs like this just about love and stuff and some of these have gone to the semi finale. Eurovision is where everyone stare at each other and think, how the fuck did that win and then they enjoy the song for weird magical reasons, but so far have I the past five years been right on who wins. Which shocks me quite the much.
@irenelommers776 жыл бұрын
This song has it all, it swings, it gives you a big smile on your face, it makes you dance. And for me it feels like Happy from Pharrell Williams. And I'm sure it will end in the top 3 of the Eurovision contest. Much love from Holland Alexander.

Cant belive almost everyone is saying "worst song i have ever heard! Its so cringey that he made a song about how to make a song" And i really dont get why that is wrong, its just genius that he said it in a catchy way:) so please stop hating on him and saying stuff like "its nothing like the fairytale song, this one is so boring in comparison". Well why did he win MGP then? I love his songs no matter what its about, because i know that its always good! Keep up the good work Alexander:)

I feel like more people should be trying to have fun with their music as well as encourage others to do the same rather than attempt to just be the most popular and financially successful with flat songs, a concept that seems to be lost on most, at least here in America it is since everything now sounds the same and just very drab and uncreative/unenthusiastic for the most part. That should go for other activities and hobbies too really. Regardless, a wonderfully upbeat and inspirational song. I'm sure my mom would have loved to sing and dance to this one too had she been able to stick around longer :33 I'll forever be grateful to you for how happy your music made her when she was still around.

12 points from France, cause I can't keep that song out of my mind. Sure it is not like Fairytale, but there is so much of Alexander in it ! New style he hasn't experienced before, violin signature, lyrics marking beliefs as a starting point... and above all, so much joy and energy ! With anyone else, the song could have sound mainstream, but Alexander is a born performer, charismatic, who adds so much on stage. It definitely made my day. Does it really matters if this song is to win the Eurovision ? If there was a recipe, ESC would be pointless. But I think it a good choice. People love this kind of songs. Alexander adds a bit of himself in it, and makes it addictive, fun, with an inspiring message for every writer. This is a hit. So thank you ! Wishing a new album in English is coming soon.

And the song is not the kind of song I would normally buy but I admit it makes me very happy and smile and I like it a lot it is catchy and will stand out among many others. how to actually write a song alexander rybak style: 1. pick lyrics about love ("I love you ooah", "I'm in love with a fairytale", "I would never blame you for the heartache I would never blame you for the tears", "Now I'm home, but I cannot stay I dream of you every day", etc.) 2. use a catchy beat (his "Leave Me Alone" is a pinnacle example of this) 3. play your violin very often to assist your main melody 4. try to be "pop" but not super mainstream, have repetition but no annoying raps or four chord progression

When i listen this,it's makes me feel like i'm realxing and dancing in a yatch or cruise...anyway this song shows to one who doesn't like the song "that's how you stuck into the fairytale" it's like...nothing same with fairytale except alexander and violin.you listen fairytale when you feel in love and you listen this beautiful song when you want to be happy.there are huge differences between two songs.so before you write a comment think about it.go rock the ESC rybak

@@AlexanderRybakVideo Alexander söyleyeceklerimi kendi dilimde yazacağım umarım çevirirsin . Eskiden ailemle İstanbul'dan Diyarbakır'a otomobille gider gelirdik ve yol boyunca fairytale şarkını dinlerdik. Maalesef artık o yolculuklar yok ama bu seni dinlememe engel değil . Hala evin içinde yüksek ses seni dinliyorum. Bu şarkında harika. Lütfen kötü yorumlara aldanma, moralini bozma. Seviliyorsun. Türkiye'den selamlar 🇹🇷🇹🇷

This song is amazing and inspired me to not really care if my song ideas are bad or too simple in the very beginning of creating it because if you keep working on it, it will get bigger and better. I was starting to write a song about encourging people to talk to someone like a friend or family member when they're feeling down or stressed so they can get everything off their chest and to be comforted in whatever way they need and feel heard. This idea was inspired by my text to my friend who seemed sad and stressed and was growing a little distant because of this, and the text said exactly that. I wanted to write it because I am bad with words (which kind of makes it ironic that I'm writing a song at all), but I was somehow able to find the words that were good enough to get my point across to her, and I wanted to give more people who also have trouble with words something to say or send to their hurting friend when they realize the same thing I did. At first, I thought the idea was a little stupid and maybe too simple, but then I found this song and noticed how simple it was and how amazing it is because of its simplicity and the wonderful advice in the lyrics, so now I'm definitely going to try to work on the song more when I actually have the time. Thank you for this, Alexander!
