I found this song a week after my girlfriend and I broke up for logical and mature reasons. I have never sobbed harder in my life while listening to it. As time went on I convinced myself I was ok until I realised I actually wasn't, and tried to get back together with her but was rejected. Having such an "amicable" break up meant that I convinced myself that I didn't need to move on because I would be able to go back to her. This song couldn't sum up my situation any better. I think constantly of the things I could have done and of what life would still be like if we were together. If only she was a horrible person and was unfaithful, it definitely would be easier to move on. I hate the control she has over my life, even though she has done nothing wrong. Time will help hopefully because right now, I am not ok. I lost my best friend and it fucking hurts knowing that she got over me quicker. I wish she would have cheated because my heart got torn to pieces anyway but it means I can't direct my anger at anyone in particular. I think writing all that out in a comment helped. Unfortunately, despite liking the song, I will never be able to listen to it consistently because it is still altogether too real.
