Epic History TV's complete four-part history of Alexander the Great in one video. Follow the incredible story of the Macedonian king as he embarks on the total conquest of the ancient world's greatest superpower, the Persian Empire. With dramatic victories at the Granicus, Issus and Gaugamela, Alexander defeats Darius III and claims the throne of Persia. But his campaign to subdue the empire's easternmost provinces and reach the edge of the known world will take him into modern Afghanistan, Pakistan and the frontier of India, where he meets the Indian king Porus in battle at the Hydaspes. This is the complete overview of Alexander's conquests, a 10 year period of immense drama and historical significance, as the young Macedonian king's breathtaking achievements ushered in a new era in European and Middle Eastern history - the Hellenistic Age.

The fact that Alexander the Great's name is remembered even 2000+ years after his death is mindblowing...

I was born in Kabul, Afghanistan and remember how everyone in my homeland knew and talked about “Iskander” as is known there. Afghans name their daughters Roxane (I named one of my daughters Roxane who was born in America). Fancy if Roxane and her son Alexander IV who was crown Prince and Alexander’s heir weren’t assassinated after Alexander’s mother died. Afghanistan’s history would be different from what it is today.

People don’t realize that Alexander’s father Phillip the 2nd did the ground work and put everything in place so that Alexander could engage in his conquest which was his father’s idea I’ve always felt that Alexander had something to do with his father’s murder because Alexander is the person who benefited the most from his death

What makes him so great to me was the fact he fought alongside his men in battle. He is a TRUE leader. A REAL leader fights WITH their people in the wars THEY fought.

Learning about Alexander in college gave me a midlife crisis. This man was conquering the world at the same age where I’m in a battle to not eat too many ramen packets in one day

For those who doubt, back to those ancient times, there where city states. Macedonians, like Spartans , Athenians, etc were all considered and refered as Greeks. They were speaking the greek language. the name Alexander ( Alexandros Αλέξανδρος in greek) means Αλεξ+ άντρας, = " the man who repels - wins other men".Αλεξ- is a common synthetic of many greek words , like alexikeravno αλεξικέραυνο ) Αλεξ + κεραυνος = lightning protection system, or Αλεξίσφερο = Αλεξ + σφαίρα = bulletproof, etc. His father was Phillipos - Φιλιππος , means the man who loves horses , Φίλος+ Ίππος. macedonian capital was Pella, which is in the North Department, of modern Greece, with the name Μακεδονία = Macedonia. all the inscription are greek. The modern country of North Macedonia, is a piece of the former Yugoslavia. It gains independence, after Yugoslavia's dessolution. They tried to use Greek Macedonia name, and history, to make their people believe that they have a glorious historic roots. It is a rather ridiculous try. But the inability of greek government, allow that to happen. If someone goes to their capital in Spopje, he will see how ridiculous and cheesy, is their try. Everywhere modern Alexander Statues made from cement, and new governmental buildings that looks like ancient temples. I dont know if this spectacle, is something to laugh or to cry. It is like Americans from Europe or Africa, to claim that they are native Indians, even if they came hundreds years after. Unfortunately this situation serves dark politics, and people who dont know history believe that the slavic people who live in that coyntry, are Macedons... Pity

I'm stunned by the production quality of this piece. I was looking for a documentary on Alexander last weekend and I wasn't expecting that kind of quality content form a guy making documentaries on KZbin. I'm a serious history buff and have around 3000 documentaries in my collection. This really is Mainstream Cable Channel TV quality level. At

I was born in Kastoria, Greek Macedonia. Alexander rode his horse twice into Kastoria to recruit warriors for his army. I followed his trail along the Anatolian coast. A mountaintop village in northern Greece still has the drums of Alexander's army. I saw them used at a wedding.
