As someone who was rooting for Islam through and through in both fights, please take some time before your next fight brother. Not like a long break, but just enough time to heal both physically and mentally. Prime never comes twice. You are still a champion and the taste loss will only make you stronger no doubt. So please take enough time and preparation before fighting in FW. Good luck Volk. I will root for ya in FW always lol.

Wow! The raw emotion you're experiencing is something many of my fellow brothers and sisters feel after leaving the military or deployment. Thank you for your transparency; you are a champion and a spokesperson for those of us who struggle with mental health. You are a champion to all of us!

Excellent reaction video, Alex. You're one of my favourite fighters and mad respect for stepping up on short notice to take on the P4PNo1. Had you been 10-8d through all 5 rounds, then I think you can talk about disappointment and underperforming, but with a head strike like that, as accurate as that, then you have to just say it was unlucky and credit to Islam's quality. Who knows how you'd have done on a full camp, but as mentioned, you stepped in, saved the event and only did MORE for your legacy! Well done for speaking out on the mental health issues too, a lot of people can think "Oh you have money, oh you have a family, oh you have a comfy life" - but for those like you who have given your entire life to a sport and martial arts, then it's so understandable you struggling when you're not in camp. Well done for speaking up! Rest up champ and come back at your absolute best in Jan!

You are called "The Great" for a reason, You wouldn't be great if you didn't push yourself and challenge yourself, You fought on 11 days notice and previously had surgery, You pushed yourself and didn't get the outcome you wanted but regardless all your fans and the entirety of the MMA community know that you are "The Great" for a reason, Its extremely hard to stain your legacy because we all know what you stand for, You're the man volk! What you’re describing is very similar to what us Veterans go through…both on Active Duty in-between deployments/missions, and once we’re out of uniform also. It’s a huge challenge to say the least. It’s encouraging for those of us who’ve struggled, to see/hear you express it the way you have. Solidarity Volk! I hope you get back in camp ASAP! 👊🏽 Much love 🫶🏽🌟

You are loved Alex, I’ve been following your career since your first UFC fight and honestly I think this setback showed more heart and fortitude than alot of wins. Even in defeat, you find a way to have a championship mindset. I can’t even tell you how much I admire that. Thank you for being open and honest about mental health, it is something we all suffer with. We’re all here to support you and hopefully each other. Big things ahead champ!

Alex is my favourite fighter for a reason. Win or lose, he is the people's champion. I can't think of a more likable fighter. To lose against someone of his caliber, on eleven days notice can hardly be considered a loss. It is a win for Volk in so many more ways than the result. Forever inspired by this man. Makes me wish I had gotten into martial arts at a young age.

No matter what happens this guy has inspired me in ways nobody has. There’s been many times I've stopped mid set of an exercise and literally remembered Alex pushing himself to help myself complete the set of exercise. Forever champ and GOAT to me no matter what!! I'm not ashamed to say I had trouble sleeping that night because of it. And not because he lost, but because of how bad of a KO it was and seeing him afterwards. But he turned it around and used it to create an important message, and he's coming back with a vengeance vs Topuria. Topuria is NOT Islam (and I actually like Islam, good dude) and I make no excuses for Volk, but naturally with a full camp he's gonna be a problem for Ilia.
