@Mark Ayers Plying a trade is not a cure-all in this economy as outsourcing and wage depression are neoliberal norms used to drive up profits while lowering production costs. Larger businesses are undercutting if not subsuming smaller ones. Most successful startups hold one thing in common: wealthy family backgrounds, a readymade foundation. Also, not everyone is a merchant. If you want a merchant based economy over the market-based one we have now, Bernie's policies would be a better starting point than what we have seen. Nevertheless, wealth is not an objective measure of hard work. There are plenty of lazy rich people as well as hardworking poor, and vice versa. So here are... back at square one

So obviously you don't seem to realize that hospitals provide many services related to relatively smaller health issues, which can be treated quickly and help the patient usually immediately. But healthcare spending in our country has increased 35% since Obamacare took place, and is almost triple what it was in 2000. Medical innovations are one reason, and because they are expensive to develop they cost more. Our politicians have now taken to the theory that everyone should have access to all medication, regardless of cost. That's absurd. If you are lying on a table, about to die, and the procedure that can save your life costs $20,000,000, that cost has to be taken into account. Because you can't give that treatment to every single person in this country. In your country, is there no cost/benefit analysis done if someone has reached a certain age? I'm guessing so. But if I happen to have $20,000,000, and want to pay for that procedure, then should I not have the option to do so? With socialized medicine the answer is no. In our country, the answer is yes. And what countries such as yours seem to fail to understand is that every time someone pays that $20,000,000 for that procedure, efficiencies are incorporated. Now, we can do that same procedure for $10,000,000. Then $5,000,000. Then $1,000,000. Then $100,000. Etc, etc, etc, until it finally gets to the point it can be done for everyone. Capitalism, it's a great thing. Oh, yeah, by the way, use those internets that you are in to research a country called Greece. Let me know what you figure out, fascinating, really. Why do Americans think human rights and human dignity are socialist? Why does the land of the free see social mobility, opportunities and personal choice on life and death as a privilege locked behind a pay-wall? This is the true problem, America has absolutely no idea why our constitution reflects the ideas that it does, and why giving people the freedom to sell their services is what creates better living standards for everyone. First of all, any human being in this country can walk into an emergency room and receive care, regardless of if you can pay. That's the first biggest misconception- that there are droves of poor people literally dying because they can't get health care. it's not true here. That only happens in socialist countries. Second, we literally ALREADY have a heavily socialist health care system. We don't have a a capitalist health-care system and we haven't for decades. We have Medicaid for the disabled and underprivileged, Medicare for seniors, and the VA for vets. Do you know what's the same about all three of these socialist institutions? They are absolute garbage. Because of the government-mandated demand and price manipulation, those institutions are the reason that everybody outside of those groups can **NO LONGER** afford care. And because the government is not the right institution for products like health care, they do an awful job at running these programs. This is not because of free market capitalism, something all three are devoid of. The people who administer these policies literally can't be held accountable or out-competed. When you decide to legally regulate the entire health care industry, you take ALL the power AWAY from the people. You don't control what happens at the Post Office, or the DMV, you would have no control over the care you receive either. No more going to a different institution all-together because they give bad care, the government takes care of that choice for you. In Canada, people flee to the US for care because they can't wait 2 years for a new liver- it's literally rationed, and already over 80% of their entire country's budget. Socializing HC removes all incentive for people to go through the grueling work and dedication to (1) create a good product, (2) get that product to as many people as possible, and (3) putting a gun to a doctor's head and saying "you will sell x care at x price" is the reason that we ALREADY have a shortage of doctors. Third, every right that you have is everybody else's responsibility. You do not have the right to force a doctor to provide you with anything. Nor do you have the right to demand labor from anybody because you feel entitled to it. That's called slavery. But I guess destroying America's already dying health care system, the one that people from every other country flee to when something happens to them, would probably be the only thing to convince people like you.

So, good to know that people do have support when they need it. That's essential for a modern society that attracts business and talent, and uses it's wealth to take care of citizens. We give a lot, so there's no harm in expecting something back! I infer from the way you spoke that you have never been a recipient of Medicaid or Medicare. That's good. However, many are trying to close these programs and if you happened to lose your job or savings because of circumstances (COVID etc) and then get injured or sick, wouldn't you want the option and feel you deserve it? I would. That's all I'm saying in essence. Many ppl take advantage. They do of all aspects of life and always will. It doesn't mean those that need help shouldn't get it. I agree that people misinterpret rights. They focus on their RIGHT not to wear a mask, or to indulge in any other number of anti-social behaviours. They don't understand that with rights come responsibilities. The reason is that we all get a lot from society that we couldn't do by ourselves. I don't grow my own food, or study medicine, or defend myself from threats... I do my part and trust fellow citizens and organisations to do those things they are better at. I see healthcare the same way. I concede, state systems can have flaws. Private systems also have many flaws. I think there's a misconception on your part... I don't think there should be only a state system. That's not how it works in the rest of the developed world. There are still private companies, it's just a choice for those with the means or particular requirements. It's like, you can pay for an upgrade to your meal.. but everyone gets a meal. It's not perfect but it might not be as bad as you're led to believe. Do you personally know any Canadians who came over for health-care? Because the media and politicians also spread horror stories about Europe but I've used that system. It was easy, efficient and good quality care. If you take profit out of the equation, surely you have more money to spend on quality? Surely of everyone's on the same page then you pool skills and resources to make it better?

The only difference will be that instead of your doctor sending the bill to an insurance company he/she will send it to the government. The same as Medicare. Yes people will pay somewhat higher taxes, but the amount of the tax increase is LESS than your premium payments. I find it funny that you think the cost will go up but then also say that Bernie supporter's are expecting everything for free. Why would you want a for-profit insurance company deciding whether you get health care or not? (Talk about death panels) Their goal is to avoid giving health care so that they make more profit. And their executives pocket millions in profits. When you leave your job you also lose your insurance and thus your health care. That makes no sense. You might also have to change doctors because your new company might have different insurance where your doctor is not in the network. This doesn't happen with Medicare for All. All doctors are in-network because there aren't any networks. You never have to change you doctor. No, Bernie supporters do not expect everything for free. We expect to pay for our health care. Medicare for all wouldn’t take away an option it takes away the profitization of medicine in the us from insurances. People who have private health insurance would still be able to get care the only difference is that people who wouldn’t be able to afford it can get it as well. Edit: it’s come to my realization that most Americans who are afraid of loosing their imaginary “choice” don’t realize how much their being fucked over by their precious private insurance. No other developed countries people goes bankrupt due to medical expenses except for the u.s. the price of insulin in the u.s. is 275 dollars the same amount in other developed countries is 25 dollars. Medicare for all is not taking away ur choice people with insurance will have the same insulin and doctors the prices will be cheaper, so others can afford it. Idk I would think that people with private insurance would be happy they don’t have to pay ridiculous prices anymore but I guess not
