She tried to represent Sweden but she didnt make it! She came fourth in the finals of melodifestivalen 2014.. the competiton for what song and artist will represent the country to the Eurovision

I think by the time in Turkey this was the only non-Turkish song at Eurovision that became way more popular than most of the Turkish songs competed. I can still hear this song playing in some establishments in Turkey.

What is an interesting coincidence is that when Hélena Paparízou won the 2005 Eurovision it was her nameday! For us Greeks (we are more than 90% Greek Christian Orthodox) our nameday is more important than our birthday. It was the 21st of May 2005. Saints Konstantínos and Eléni were celebrated. Hélena's real birth name is Eléni. But is very common for an Eléni to be called Élena, Léna, Lenió, Léngo... Élena in English is Helena.

The "Covid-explaination" might sound good on paper, but in stead of arriving with 5 back-up-singers, all delagations are gonna bring dancers in stead - mark my worth it will be the exact same numbers of performers on stage next year.. And now the EBU are ruining the contest by allowing playback singing and they most likely won't remove the rule afterwards :( :(

In theory it might be ok because you're specifically no longer allowed to have the backup vocals "saving" the main performer. This used to be allowed, but of course it would still have been an actual person singing live, just not who it looked like. I think it's possible it could work out ok. I think it had to happen eventually, as technology is starting to get to the point where you can have completely synthetic vocals (which would be allowed under current rules) sounding like real vocals. I mean we're not quite there yet. but pretty close. I'm mildly optimistic to see how it works out, but also a bit scared.
