The prices at thrift stores honestly make me so mad. They’re getting loads of things for free and still charging what a regular retailer would charge for new things that are on sale. It’s ridiculous. Especially for those that are shopping there because they can’t afford to buy new. But now their prices are so steep shopping new is sometimes cheaper. I definitely think they’re capitalizing on the whole thrift trend. I love thrift shopping because it’s more sustainable but sometimes it is not more affordable. Just thought I’d share cause you shared your annoyance with the prices too!!

Just playing devil's advocate, but isn't it because the thrift stores have to a) pay their employees, and b) give money to the charities that they stand for (example: Salvation Army)

Vera R I think it depends on the thrift store. Some are definitely non profit and do great work while still charging fair prices. Value Village specifically is actually a for profit organization. “The largest for-profit thrift store in the world, Value Village-which is owned by Bellevue-based TVI-generates over $1 billion in revenue annually, but they donate just a tiny fraction of that to charity. Thrifting has become such a trend now, I noticed that prices has gone up within the past couple years.. not only that, but lots of people re-list thrifted items on apps for 10x as much too 😭 I saw a pair of Levi shorts on depop with the price tag of $3.99 and the seller listed them for $50..

In other countries like mine (the Netherlands) a lot of thrift stores are literally just as expensive as stores like urban outfitters. And like the cheaper ones are so bad. Like I go trough it every week and I end up buying like one or 2 things... So I think the US is still a lot better I wish I could go there.

Hey I have a tip for when you found that Car Show shirt that you liked So when you find shirts that have nice graphics on the back just buy it Cut the graphic in the shape you’d like and sew it on to the back of a jean jacket‼️👌🏼

I used to work for Crossroads Trading Co. I would say that they’re a trendier Plato’s Closet. Their values are super great & they’re really diligent about getting quality things in their stores. They also always have stuff half off!! My fave Free People boots were in the store at $25 (which is a steal) and no one bought them so I got them at half off!

I appreciate how normal your thrifting videos are like most you tubers are concerned about “trends” like just getting tommy,Levi’s, Ralph Lauren, polo, and more ya know which isn’t a bad thing but for the normal person thrifting is just a fun way to save money and get normal clothes that you like and follow your own personal style. Thrift stores that I LOVE - Working Wardrobe Resale Shops - in OC, they know their brands and price accordingly BUT they get such great items donated. Smaller shops but packed with goodness and super nice people. Assistance League Thrift Stores - OC, LA, Palm Springs - SUPER GOOD PRICES! Small Shops, I usually find my quirky vintagy items here because it seems like only grandmas donate! The bonus is both of these support good causes, so I leave there feeling a little better about myself :-D

i know when you was on about how expensive the disney jumpers were in UK i can guarantee its because of where you was shopping im guessing you was down south London area whereas up here in midlands/north the charity shops are so much cheaper and to be honest so are the vintage shops...sheffield where i live have some amazing vintage shops ans markets and you can get some amazing bargains...i rarely visit down south it just isnt all that everything is far to expensive and just not all that so much cheaper up here with so much history and sight seeing. If you ever come back to the UK look at going further north you will not regret it price wise but also holiday wise the country side ia beyond beautiful xx

If I ever find a Winnie The Pooh sweater, I will totally mail it to you! That said: The one sweater you tried on at the thrift store (it had those four huge squares on the front) literally looks so much like something I wore as a kid in the 90s, except that it had a halfzip. It was my favorite sweater and one day my mom accidentally ironed over the zipper and it just melted. I remember having a total meltdown 😂
