When shopping for another 6.5cm, I couldnt justify the price difference. $400 difference for the initial cost and if you want to make any changes to the ruger like the horrible stock and the meh trigger, you're going to be closer to $1800.

As someone who owns and loves his RPR, there is no way I would ever take that thing hunting. With all the furniture on it mine tops the 12lb mark and there is no way I would ever want to lug that much around when there are better options. Where the RPR shines is when it's at a range where it can stretch out to some nice distances.

Timney triggers makes a drop in for the Ruger. It's a 2 stage with the 2nd stage being able to be set ss low as .5lbs or 8 ounces which is awesome... it has zero creep and has a 8lb pull on the 1st stage b4 you hit the wall. Its a safety thing and some may not like it but I do and recommend it. Mine is in .338 Lapua and can hold 1moa or less even at 400 yards... if I had better optics and was a better shooter and made my own loads then it could do 1 or 2 moa out in the 1200-1600 yard range but that's using a match .338 Lapua cartridges and a scope that costs more then the rifle. Lol.. But for 1600$ bucks, & $259 for the trigger and a decent optic, it's a def a very accurate rifle and you can spend a lot more and not get as good performance for guns double the cost. But I'm poor...
@drubradley88213 жыл бұрын
I just realized, the RPR you have, folds to the other side away from the bolt handle, where as mine, folds over on top of the bolt handle.. Interesting... I wonder if that is caliber related? I assumed that mine folding over on top of the bolt handle, was to offer a measure of bolt handle protection, while in transit when heading to the range or in shipping to the FFL? I personally remove the bolt and it has a slot on the case to securely hold the bolt outside from the rifle. I remember thinking, why didn't they make these fold away like yours does, so it could still be operated, even though the instructions states that the rifle should never be operated unless the folding stock is in its extended position and locked for safety... But, to see that the RPR's are offered like yours. clever.. and if in a tight location, I do not see why not.. the stock offers not structural support to the bolt locking lugs. Of course, the stock serving its function for supporting the rifle as a whole when firing, sure.. but I am gonna have to look into this further... I'll bet you one dollar, that I ask SLAVGUNS about this one his next LIVE show? what are some of the defining factors to the "WHY" or "WHICH" folds to the left, or to the right and why....

@@EpikArms I'm mostly just nitpicking. Bolt bolt shroud on gen1's are plastic, gen 2 and 3 are both made of metal. They also come with Muzzle brakes, where the gen 1 doesn't. Something else you may want to mention, is the little tool set that housed in the bolt-shroud for adjusting the trigger, and taking the bolt itself apart. Word of warning about working on the bolt though,.. if the little took slips out while its taken apart, it can be a bit of a challenge to get the spring compressed, and the tool back in. That's one thing I wish was a little better with them.. I'm not sure if the tool is made out of metal, or plastic to be honest, but.. I wish a was a little bit better that what they give you. The HMR litterly stands for "Hunting". So the Bergara is perfectly fine for hunters. And they don't come in all the caliber you mentioned

You said that neither of these rifles would be good hunting rifles. I agree with the RPR, but why not the Bergara?

Nice Video! I have an RPR in 6.5 CM and a Bergara B14 HMR in 300 PRC. In my case they are both pretty equal in accuracy out of the box (.25 MOA with Hornady Match ammo). I have taken the Bergara out to 1 mile a couple of times with no problem. The RPR I use a lot on the farm for predators at night. It never misses, but sometimes I do lol.

@@EpikArms would you consider either of these in a .308??
@EpikArms3 жыл бұрын
@@g0rt3x72 generally no, from my experience with the .308 that i have owned they lose too much steam at 750m and since im always trying to push it a bit further at my range. Unless i find a really really good price on one ill get it as i still have a a ton of 168gr bthp match from when inwas using .308's
@multicammando3 жыл бұрын
@@g0rt3x72 I have a Ruger hunter in .308 which has the heavy barrel and the Magpul stock on it from the factory....using handloads with 185gr berger juggernauts I can achieve 0.5" groups if I do my part ..... however it will easily shoot 1" groups all day.....with that said .308 has been historically cheaper to shoot especially when handloading r/t all the available .30 cal bullet choices ..... nowadays who knows ...... additionally I have the same rifle in 6.5 creedmoor but it has the mid weight barrel and it shoots better than the .308 and less recoil......hard to find ammo nowadays I've seen.... anyhow.....just a long winded thought from me 😁
@g0rt3x723 жыл бұрын
@@multicammando I greatly appreciate your thoughts and effort. Honestly its only the availability of the 308 that has me leaning that way over a 6.5 308 being cheaper doesn't hurt either.

No to leftys is a deal killer here. The accuracy comparison is only between two individual firearms.

Bergara triggers have no creep. 2.2 pounds on both of my ridge and hmr. The savage bolt is a freeking clunky mess. The Remington 700 has way more aftermarket support than the savage. Bergara is a step above the RPR.
