Very nice. We just switched back to flexbone this year for the high school I coach at. I like this spread option but you do need talent for it IMO.

Talent helps for sure. I'm a traditionalist myself but still love seeing the concepts incorporated into more 'modern' offenses

@@Flexbone101 Right. I love how the veer/triple option , when executed correctly, is almost like art. I actually feel better coaching the veer because it feels more strategical or I guess better with the “if then” play calling. When we ran spread I just felt like some times like I was throwing something at a wall and hoping it sticks. Obviously there is strategy to it but in my personal experiences it’s ehh unless you have the athletes.

@@mythikos3535 Agree 100%. If you've got dudes you can make any offense work.... The difference is I'm confident I can be successful running the Flexbone without a team full of dudes. But I'm the same way with the If/Then play calling. Started out in the grab bag method just trying to guess what works - after starting down this path I don't think I could go back to anything else. It helps to have something that "makes sense"

True flexbone seems like its dying out of ncaa...i guess coaches dnt wanna risk going thru several qbs during the season....seeing more pistol and shotgun veer plays

I think QB health is a factor but I think it's mostly just coaches seeking to combine the triple option with spread space and numbers philosophy.

@@TheBetterGamerz i also think it has something to do with the recruiting...qbs and their parents prolly don't want to commit to an offense that requires their qb to be hit "x" amount of times per game....coaches i think are doing the adjustments based upon that and luring athletic speedy qbs ...(who also have the desire to throw the ball more than 7 times a game)
@TheBetterGamerz3 жыл бұрын
@@coldspirit9904 Yes exactly, must QB recruits want to be treated as true dual threats nowadays. It's a lot harder to recruit a QB if he knows that his role as a runner and facilitator will far outshine his role as a passer.
@coldspirit99043 жыл бұрын
@@TheBetterGamerz to me...i would focus on running backs that are decent passers for the flexbone...and I think the dual threats are more so the wide receiver (built) types ..they can stay in shotgun and or pistol

@@TheBetterGamerz I know I’m here way after but just wanted to add that in addition, the Russel Sheppard kind of guys who project as major athletes and can play QB or other positions in college usually end up somewhere where they 80% of the time end up at a non QB position, whereas at a triple option running school that’s probably your QB recruit

A moment of silence for every receiver who has to play offensive line in this high school offense
