He’s not going to get 10 years because that’s the max and nearly no one gets the max. Depending on his criminal history he may get 2-3 years though. Will most likely serve time in a federal minimum security camp. The feds have a 99% conviction rate after indicting someone so he’s most certainly going to face punishment over this. It pays to hire a lawyer if you’re going to shoot a high budget video with stunts in California but he must’ve forgot.

He won’t get anywhere near 10 years. That’s the statutory maximum. That being said, that specific law was probably designed to deter people from setting off fireworks on an actual airplane or over a populated area and he did it in a helicopter and In the middle of the desert. Imo that’s really not worth prison time. Maybe a hefty fine and community service, but I’m sure the feds will disagree and give him some time. The feds almost always sentence people to do time, they aren’t big on probation.
