I've been saying this forever. Devon is a foreigner to overall strength training outside his VERY limited arm wrestling specific training. He's never like it, he's never wanted to do it, and it's why he could never put on good weight. Devon has misunderstood the role of overall raw power in arm wrestling TWICE now. He admitted after the first loss he did not focus enough on getting stronger. This time around he focused on modest strength improvements on tiny forearm muscles that control the rise, cupping, and pronating. He's NEVER committed himself to the new paradigm in arm wrestling, where being big, huge, and powerful is the new direction of the sport. Did ANYONE think Devon had a chance when he sat down next to Levan and looked like a skinny teenager?
@jamesbondisamonkey8 ай бұрын
That's accurate. He's just stubborn. A lot of older arm wrestlers who blindly follow just training on the table methodology could have been better as well, including Brzenk. It's so obvious that overall strength training contributes to arm wrestling training, and many of these guys are either too lazy or too dumb to understand it...kind of baffling at this point, but what can you do...they are who they are.

.....Devon is absolutely not a “foreigner” to overall strength training. He did plenty of it during his 20+ years in the military, many spent as elite special forces. He at some points could do over 1000 consecutive pushups, and has set Canadian military records for Ironman / triathlon competitions. Those feats require an overall base of strength and fitness, they are not super specific activities the way AW is. He just has never been into “bodybuilding”, or needing to have massive musculature. He needed functional strength. Have you seen images of a younger Devon? He looks like he’s carved outa stone, and could practically have been a fitness model Regardless of how Devon trained for the last 5 years, he would NEVER be able to compensate and overcome the 130+lbs weigh advantage Levan has. End of discussion. There are weight classes for a reason. It’s just that unfortunately there aren’t enough humans big enough to have more weight classes above 120kg, so there are massive discrepancies in size & strength sometimes

Let Ermes use that for his motivation . In competitive sports you will be disrespected . You can’t control other people and it will happen . Sharpen your mind , don’t get so easily offended by others . It’s nothing personal … even if it was how do you become a stronger person out of it just whining about it . That being said … Alizhan is turning out to be one of my favourite arm wrestlers .. the power and speed of his left hand is ridiculous . I’m curious to see how far he could go .

I think a lot of people complain about devon but ermes can be pretty rude and also cheats a fair bit. In his match vs vitali he screamed right in vitalis face after he won a round pretty disrespectfully. almost reminded of revaz. and he trash talks before and after too when you look at jerry etc.
@devinaxtman61718 ай бұрын
It’s the weight and when they pull, it’s too much for him. He is too big and compact for Devon. He would have to put on 90 pounds of weight just to try and compete which he obviously cannot do.

I love devon. I think he's smart in many ways...i do.. but it's a misstep to only train your arm. I imagine his actual rowing ability and chest fly ability is better than your average gym goer but i imagine it's quite weak. Levan just answered engins question about what devon needs in their most recent interview. He said devon needs more side pressure. He didn't even say bicep, he said shoulder. Levan was able to blow devon over and back because devon can't keep his arm within centerline of his body, you even see this as he loses. His body runs backwards and he relies solely on your arm.

lev crossed the center line of the table. His shoulder is clearly over the peg line. dev won the wrist. lev went forward to far and put everything into that move. would have been a diff match all together if lev stayed on his side of the table. dev could have bled him out

Nobody needs to obey your bullshit strategy. Bully the opponent before the match, then play "respectful" after the match. Alizhans method is much more meaningful in my opinion. Humiliate the opponent on the table and punish his disrespectfulness as he deserved. If you bully your opponent before the match, don't cry once you get your answer after the match!

Doesn't sound resonable for me. (1) Ok, Devon decided to break former armrestling traditions that spertsmens are pollite, correct and respectful especially to opponents. Instead he intruduced his tradition: to use any whatsoever dirty and disgusting bulling before the match and, well, be respectfull again after the match. Should every sportsmen follow exactly this style? Probably not. (2) regarding Muratov - what is so special that he presented his handle? Many times athlets presented each other t-shorts, caps, tools, etc. The fact that Gasparini is sponsoring some handles production as well doesn't make any difference. Nothing is here to consider presenting handle as something specifically offending...

Do people not realize devons a god at self promotion. If everyone was boring nobody would watch why are people so dam narrow minded. Next ermes will smash alizahn right hand. Its weak are against strong what did people expect. I think the handles really was a gift. People need to understand the art of promotion and quit whining this is fighting no dance moms. Look at any popular wwe star it is based on how good you can work a crowd. People take stuff to heart it is ridiculous.

Bro... you don't seem to understand the social dynamics in the western world. The difference between Devons/Ermes trash talk and what Alizhan did is that it's obvious to everyone that Devon/Ermes are doing that just to hype up the match but they have NO personal issues with the athlete, in fact they show immense respect to the fellow athlete. Whereas Alizhan took it personally and showed disrespect to Ermes at a time when there was no need to hype the match, so it seems the sole purpose was to humiliate him. Nobody doesn't that in the sport.
@bmetal28 ай бұрын
AHAHAHAA, you are kidding right? 'Devon shows immense respect during trash talk', ahahahaa. Devon told Dave Chafee, "Dave is the dumbest guy in armwrestling" Woow, I want to cry for this outmost respect! Alizhan's culture is different than this. He can easily took those "respectul" trash talks personally. And he won by humiliating the trashtalker and gives his gift. Do not cry, if you be disrespctful before the match, you will almost always get what you deserve. (Also remember, Devon told Levan a "pussy" and Levan ripped off his biceps! If you trash talk carelessly, don't cry after the punishment kiddo!
