He is basically saying that in order to be successful you have to be present, instead of let your mind wandering in the past or the future. Your thoughts are energy and by thinking about a lot of different things at the same time you are spreading that energy in multiple places instead of channeling it into one thing. This is exactly what the Buddhist monks have been teaching, Alex just put it into different words. By putting your focus in the now you are 100x more productive, that's why the ability to be focused is crucial if you want to succeed in any endeavour. A lot of high level executives use meditation as a tool to increase their focus, so if you want to achieve the same results you might want to try meditating.
@eminmehtiyev232 жыл бұрын
Yes, but also what he is saying is that it is important to watch out where we live our present moment in. You can spend hours on Netflix living in the present moment, but that's wasting those marbeles of attention he's talking about

It is astonishingly true what this man is talking about. It is so important to have that ATTENTION, that FOCUS for the meaningful things in life. I realised that myself some months ago. I wanted to earn money and I found out that i can't give my attention to some random video game and become wealthy at the same time. If you are constantly hooked to something that is extremely devastating. The easiest way to understand is if it's an addiction. To me, like i said, I was hooked to some video game, but it can have the same effect like alcohol addiction smoking addiction, because your mind can't focus on your important goal you want to achieve. So I had to quit video games, because I see that it is just time waste no matter the fun I am having in that moment (instant gratitude), it won't make me fulfilled. Btw. since I am talking about video games it comes to my mind that not even some addiction can be destructful, but also just a bideo game you play here and there. Clash of clash for example has a very toxic play style. If you don't play it will make you feel like you are missing out. The game isn't playable for hours straight, but stays in the back of your mind, because you have to check in every now and then. Stuff like that distract you completely even though it doesn't seem so life changing in a negative way at first glance. You need some peace in your mind. Just imagine you had to remember all the time to eat food or go to the toilet or else you die. It is great that that happens subconciously or else we would have to think about it for the entire time and give our attention to that "unnecessary thing" (In this case it would be necessary of course, but it is not something you want to keep in your mind all the time and it doesn't get you to your goal). Don't get me started on dopamin... Man, somebody's gonna read this bible. I just hope I was able to enlighten someone out there. Have a nice day, brother.

Very good insights! One of the mistakes that a lot of entrepreneurs make is not focusing their attention on all of the areas of life but just focusing on making money. We need to have balance between Physical, Mental, emotional, Spiritual, and Relationtional health! Many entrepreneurs think its ok to sacrifice time of sleep because they think to themselves time is money. If you were to allocate enough "attention" to sleep you would see yourself accomplishing much more during the day on 7.5-9 hours of sleep rather then 5-6 hours of sleep

Alex looks 10 years younger at the beginning of this video, then he shows a past video where he looks 20 years younger. The beard makes a big difference. His point about 'what gets you from 0 to 1 is different from what gets you from 1 to 2, you're identity needs to change' led me to think about what it takes to become independent (0 to 1) and to start a family, raising kids (1 to 2). Kids need attention and bandwidth to grow properly.

The key to success is obsession. That is why we are taught from a young age to not get obsessed with things, why schools and society put so much energy into promoting "general education". To be successful, focus on your one field, spend more time improving your skills in that one field than anybody else in that field. If you wish to be successful, find your passion and let it consume you.
