I was told that to I will be loc for 4 years on the 29th
I remember we started our loc journey at the same time and you had encouraged me to remove my loc extensions and start with my real hair. I did it, but i ended up taking my starter locs out and went back to my fro because i was not mentally ready 😭 and i wish i would have stayed the course with you because your hair has FLOURISHED sis! BUT nevertheless i have restarted 2 weeks ago w/ two strand twists. And ain't no going back! I am so excited and I am in it, and seeing how far you have come has chastised me. Love your channel sis!🙌🏾

Just started my two strand twist starter locs almost one month in…all I can say is IM TRUSTING THE PROCESS! Shrinkage is REAL and my locs are doing their own thing. I use coconut oil with purified water to hydrate, again I’m TRUSTING THE PROCESS ♥️
@AlexisHarris3 жыл бұрын
It’s so great to hear that you’re trusting the process! That was my approach when I started a year and a half ago and I could not be happier with the results. It’s all about sticking with the journey no matter how you feel about the various stages. It’s well worth it and it’ll definitely the pay off!!!!

Very informative video. The rules I go by for my locs are quite simple. PATIENCE, water both for the outside and the inside, clean and separated locs, not to much retwisting and keeping your locs covered. Enjoying our loc journey and not making it to difficult with consistency will make our locs flourish. Until your next video.

I am starting my loc journey again. My first set of 16 years but my inner spirit told me to cut them and start a new one. I knew it was the right decision because I did not feel regret when I did it. Now, I am ready. My hair wants to loc. I backcomb my first set of locs, but I prefer to start them with 2 strand twist. Your locs are gorgeous! Ginger spice!!! Thank you for this informative tutorial.

I’m 11 months loc’d and I love my hair so much!!! Congratulations to all of you who have chosen to start your loc journey within the last couple of days to the last few months!! Be very patient with your hair, it can take up to 4yrs before you complete the beginning stages of your loc journey!! I have exactly 100 locs. If you plan to do your own loc maintenance a good shampoo to remove buildup is Lemon Fluff Shampoo by Gabel’s. The best way to moisturize your locs is using the Loc Method which is layering oils like Jojoba, avocado and sweet almond oil. I decided to wash my hair every two weeks. I like my locs clean and neat. I go to Sekai Natural Hair Gallery in Los Angeles for retwist!!❤️

College professor wait what! You look like you’re in high school. You are absolutely stunning. You just glow. Beautiful skin, smile and personality. Thank you for allowing Gloria to answer my question.🌹. Your hair is stunning. I think I may have been too hard on myself. I’m just going with the flow of my hair and will give it a year to work out. I just decided to keep it in a style to keep it from unraveling. That has worked for me where I’m not retwisting weekly I can go two weeks. I don’t spray my roots with rose water just my locs so my roots don’t puff up and get really nappy. How I moisturize is with hair growth oils that I put to my roots and out down my locs. I don’t have build up so that’s no issue for me. My front hair line has grown in a lot using hair growth oils such as rosemary, sage and peppermint oils also Jamaican black castor oil. I keep my head covered when I sleep or lay on anything. I tie it down with a silk scarf to kill the frizz and I put a bonnet on top. I definitely keep it covered in the shower to prevent unraveling and frizziness. I used to wash and retwist every two weeks now I’m washing once a month and I may retwist once or twice a month. It really just depends on what my hair tells me. My hair has started the budding process which I find hard not to pull those little balls off 🙄. My hair is definitely growing. I went with smaller locs. My hair just locs quicker in the middle and ends rather than the roots. I do palm rolling from time to time and lock smithing which I just learned and both do work. I have learned to prevent breakage is to keep my locs moisturized and keep growth oils in my hair. I haven’t experienced any shrinkage just the unraveling at the roots. I’m going to hang in there and keep the protective styles going until it completely locs. Amazon has these special combs to scratch your head. It has like three or four long curved rake points that just scratches your scalp. It’s amazing. Thanks again gorgeous for caring so much for the loc community and always spreading sunshine. You are one gorgeous young lady Miss Professor. I’m proud of you. What is it that you teach??

You did a great job retwisting your hair. Are you just retwisting the roots at this stage? Since you told me about the loc tool that has been a life saver for my hair. It doesn’t unravel anymore since using the tool and my locs look like dreds now. I am understanding now that I will have to retwist the roots every two weeks. I’m trying to get them to last a month. Then I realize that moisturize and putting oils in my hair loosens the locs at the roots. I’m almost a year in my journey come June. I notice how beautiful your locs are. Yours don’t seem to have frizz. I am still battling the frizz almost a year in. For spiritual reasons I keep my hair covered in public so that’s a great plus for me. My hair is growing slowly but it’s growing so I’m happy with that. My edges have really grown in where I can make baby locs. Overall I am happy with my locs and I plan to stay loc’ed for life. College professor shocks me. You look like you’re 20. What do you teach? You are just so pretty and your smile is so contagious and beautiful. I find myself smiling when I look at your videos. Congrats on all your subscribers. You come across very genuine and friendly that’s why people love you. I look forward to anything you have to say. Are you loving your new home? My mistake during that journey was having too many people in my hair as far as Locticians. I cut mine in 2018 to experience freeforming and traditional locs. I removed my loc style after 1 week because of itching. Could I wear the curls out until next retwist? (6 weeks)

I just started my starter locs on 10-29-21 and I’m loving it. Honestly I had quite a bit of hair because I was loose natural for abt 6 years so I started at a pretty comfortable length and yea I’ve never felt more confident! I can’t wait till they get thicker and actually loc up. But I also have a question, can I just use regular water to mist my hair or should it absolutely be purified?
@AlexisHarris3 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on your new journey! I’m so excited for you. The water does not have to be purified, but I’ve always heard people say tapwater dries out your hair even more. So you have to be careful! Sending you lots of love ❤️

This may be too late to be useful. I stoped using tap water and use distilled water or rose water. Rose water every day left a dull look to my hair so I alternate between distilled water and rose water. My regimen allows me to skip applying oil every day but I do not skip applying oil 2 days in a row. I’m 4 days shy of being 2 months loc’d so I’m no expert. I have noticed what has worked for me. I subscribed to this channel my first week as a loc’d newbie and I have gained a lot of confidence here. Thanks Alexis.

Hello gorgeous!!! Thanks so much for the love ❤️ I definitely understand the lint problem because my little brother has the same thing. Have you tried a silk bonnet? Or silk pillow cases?
