One of the best vid explaining ISTP. 👏 I recently have procrastination problem, and you just explained why it had occurred perfectly. I'll remember to make time to give my SE some treat if I ever feel stagnant.

What I've taken from this video, is that Ni has been kinda destroying my life since the beginning of the pandemic. Literally my two biggest problems right now: • fear, which keeps me from doing what I really want to do (taking dance classes -> Se) • feeling lethargic and procrastinating, which creates a lot of new problems in my life (and again creates a lot of fear because I don't do what I have to do for school and I'm graduating in half a year) Apparently, using only/mostly your first and third function makes you an unhealthy version of your MBTI type. It all makes sense to me. Gonna work on my Se, so that I'm less inclined to use Ni all of the time. Great video. Helped me a lot in understanding myself.

As an ISTP, I was able to extract very helpful pieces of advice and I can now understand myself better in a way. I couldn't even imagine how complex all of this could actually be. I thought there wouldn't be much for me to learn and be able to apply at all, but it seems I was incorrect. I am quite glad that I watched until the very end of this video.

Thank you for taking the time to really understand and present each personality. Listening to this video was surreal. You literally described my life as it has played out over my 50 years here. I really struggle with the 3rd function, especially in the cold winter. The answer has always been doing something physical to get out of the 3rd function funk. Also the 4th function was not a part of my life until I tried it out to the extreme for several years recently. Now I’ve calmed down and feel better balanced. lol! Thank you again. Your videos have been very helpful and encouraging.

What always seems so practical about Ni/Se is that basically Ni is like the idea of dreaming during night, and Se is like physical action during day. Of course it's not literally like that, but you could compare it that way. Se is activity because it's both sensing and both extraverted. Ni is internal and intuitive, so in both fronts kind of internal and passive. Ne and Si on the other hand can not as easily classified that way, as Ne is very internal since it's intuition, yet it's external because it's extraverted. So it's kind of active, but kind of not. It's involved in the outside world, yet it's not at the same time. Similarly Si is sensing thus in some sense more externally orientated because sensing is more about the outside of things (even if its your body), yet it's introverted and thus has a passive component too. It always feels to me that my body (Si) is just doing stuff on autopilot doing things without conscious involvement from my mind, while my active thoughts are often completely not involved in the actions my body does (Ne). I often find myself in some room or doing things I was not aware of doing. I could have been on the toilet without really realizing that i was there. It's like the body just goes on autopilot and does these things on it's own.(usually things you have done before, so Si just goes on autopilot I guess). I like it in the sense that it frees my mind from having to be involved in such boring matters, but at the same time I sometimes find myself doing something that did not needed to be done. If I'm in room x, then I'm automatically gonna do whatever is typical for room x without really me realizing it, while often consciously and actively thinking about some logic/idea stuff that is not related to that at all.. Anyway, long story short; it seem Ne/Si is a more complicated function axis to work with than Ni/Se. Similarly Ti/Fe is less practical than Te/Fi. In that sense, our (alpha Quadra) has the least practical set of functions) in my view to yield, whereas the Ni/Fi/Se/Te Quadra seems the most practical one and seem the most straight forward function set to yield.

What's your definition of practical? I don't know what it means. When I read about it on the internet it seems like it's about having a plan, discipline/willpower and get things done- that sounds like strategising which is maybe like INTJ/INTP? or Te , also things like: something useful, advices, overall having S>N, T>F, Te-Fi and Se-Ni are more action-oriented so maybe also in this way. Once when I had an english lesson, we talked about zodiac signs and if they fit us so I'm virgo and I said yes because I'm analytical and perfectionistic and the professor asked me: "Are you practical?" - "I don't know what it means" - "It means that you always know what to say." My answer to this would be that I often don't have much to say because I'm very introverted. And what's the difference between logical and practical? I've heard that INTP isn't practical (but most people have very incorrect info about how INTP works- but you seem like a true INTP) and that a lot of smart people are impractical. Why is Se-Ni more practical than Si-Ne? If the getting things done in a systematic way means practical then ISTJ would be much more practical then chaotic ESXPs who constantly change their plans and who take action just to see what happens.

@@enlightenedglass7879 When I mean practical, I am referring to not (overly) complicating things but moving in a quick and efficient pace towards some goal in the external world. Indeed, sensing and thinking are more practical and less 'complex' than feeling and intuition. Also, extraversion in general is less complex than introversion. So this is why both Te and Se to me seem the least complex functions out of all of them, since they are most objective, surface level, measurable etc. So my is idea is that types that have both these functions can quickly move in the external world. Fi and Ni seem a bit of a double edged sword, as they both should give the person the ability to know which thing they see in the future (Ni) and which thing they want (FI). However, these 2 functions are almost the least objective and most complex of all functions, as they are both introverted and feeling or intuition. So their internal world is likely going to be very complex to deal with with. So my guess is that their issues in life are likely going to be more internally, as that is where their complex functions are located whereas types with our functions (Ti, Ne, Si, Fe) struggles are likely going to be more likely externally, as that is where our "complex" functions are located (feeling and intuition). Internally we have Ti and Si, which are both very down to earth and non complex functions. Feeling and intuition are for example complex in the sense that feeling contain much more things like paradoxes than thinking and sensing. You can love and hate at the same time, just as intuition can be full of paradoxes and such complex issues. Because they are more complex, their processing likely costs more time and energy than thinking or sensing. They are also more prone to over complicate things. I'm not sure if this answers your question? I speak about 'us' when you never really said you were an INTP yourself. If not, ignore the 'us' part as that is about the alpha quadra's functions (Ti, Ne, Si, Fe

@@PowerRedBullTypology That makes sense! So S types don't overcomplicate things but simply take action. Because S= clear, straightforward, N takes something unclear/unknown and questions it. Some people that I know and that are clearly ST types do things and solve problems simply, they don't overthink them. I'm a control type (in C.S.Joseph's system) so I prefer the best outcome over speed and yes, I'm an INTP.

I'm currently 27, I'm not very physically active though I do have some of my reasons. Over that past few years, I've been trying to better myself with interacting with people in a Discord D&D group. It's a very slow process but I have managed to make some improvements, I'm still overly critical of others and struggle to communicate without coming across as blunt, and the worst part about it is that I can't ever see it in the moment of a conversation because I'll get locked onto this logical thought process and I'll end up doing that thing where I catch someone in a flaw of their logic, which of course breaks down communication because to them it's me being petty but to me, I'm just trying to understand their process and then pointing out when I see a issue.

O..M...G yeeesss... I use to swear I was INTJ but I NEVER tested that way and this make SOOO much sense. That Fe explanation also accounts for why people seem to think i'm extroverted when I'm so not. I thought i was just a "force socialized" introvert but this tracks!

When I just saw these videos of this series "inside out" i was ab it confused why the images of the first 2 functions were displayed in the locations of the third and fourth function. I mean, I got it, but maybe it's not the most intuitive way to display them, as now it looks at first glance like both Fe and Ni are related to people playing sports.

Haha yes, an hour eating lunch (sé) and talking a mix of emotions (Fe) and facts (tí) with 1 person, with mostly them talking 😂, is totally sufficient for the whole day.. Spend the rest of the day with cats!! Socialising drains me, unless we are dancing or swimming or body boarding together.. And eating!!

This is brilliant, not for a second would I have thought I would type as istp, because of all the stereotypes of tools and motorbikes.. But it's making a huge amount of sense, particularly with the ti ní loop stopping me from action and fun.. As someone said here, particularly since the plandemic.. I see now why istps are conspiracy theorists, because they do question everything, but ní in the 3rd function, doesnt always mean u can predict outcomes.. Just stick to the facts ti, question everything and dance and swim and play tennis for fun and stop worrying!

If he starts to look stressed with what he's working on stop talking or else he will associate you with the stress and put you in the you annoy me category

Think about an ISTP who has been sickly since childhood, so coordination, stamina, and strength were not present except with lightweight tools. How would this affect them? Would they likely adapt and appear to be closer to a different personality?
