Nicholas explained how Hayes’ tattoo of a thistle was a nod to Hayes’ Scottish heritage, which is never actually touched on within the film but only adds to the depth of character.However, once he picked out his tattoos, he realised he had to actually sit in the makeup chair and get them etched onto his body almost everyday, leaving him negotiating with the makeup team to only get the ones definitely in shot."

Fully agreeing with you, and I feel like it's the same argument as in the Anyone but you case : people crave predictability in rom-coms. That doesn't make them bad movies, it just makes them movies suited perfectly for their "niche" audience. And I put niche into quotes cause this category seems to be quite popular. Anyway, yes it's not as interesting as a thriller or movie with a twist would be, but very few movies could pull off rom-com with a twist and not end up disappointing every one. La La Land comes to mind and that's about it. Maybe that explains the decent 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, people know what they bargain for before watching this movie : either they still do and are happy with the predictability, hence their satisfaction, or they drop it and move on with their life which is perfectly fine.

It was so strange seeing Anne Hathaway in this type of movie. She looked like she was phoning it in, which may be the reason I felt her co-star was able to keep up with her. Also, as someone who lives in LA, it fascinates me how all these characters live in houses. Her home is easily a 2 to three million dollar house. AND she owns and art gallery while joking that she didn't have enough money to be in the NYC art scene. Sigh. Can't these women ever be nurses or teachers or work an office job?

@DannyDevitoOffical-TrustMeBroАй бұрын
It’s honestly terrifying how this obsession with blind positivity has extended to accepting creepy relationships. Ten years is pushing it, fifteen is cause for concerned confusion, but _twenty+?_ Ma’am, that man could be your child. She even admitted it. In no universe could a healthy, normal adult of that age reconcile such knowledge with a physical romantic relationship with said young person. Of course, adults can make their own decisions, but that doesn’t mean we all have to just be okay with it. This stuff is weird, and I can guarantee that the vast majority of young person/person old enough to be his/her parent relationships are based off of A) the young person desperately seeking the validation of an older person to take the place of a parent, B) the older person being a manipulative creep, or C) a disturbing mix of the two. It’s not cute.

Loved seeing that Annie, as an "older" woman in Hollywood (she turned 40 the day before filming the 40th birthday scene), has roles written for her that center her and not just her status as a "mom" or a "wife". Love hearing corny fanfiction lines acted out with pure conviction. Love the Swedish-produced pop songs littered throughout the movie. And the happy ending was the perfect pick-me-up.
