Mate, gaps like that, I just use expanding foam, it doesn’t crack, shrink etc and you can just skim over it. It’s ridiculously strong. Any time I’ve got big gaps in boarding or where a ceiling meets walls, cracks down the architraves or string, I just rake it out and foam it. Never ever have had anything re crack
