One aspect of where you live and are able to test electric cars is the much greater proliferation of charging stations. Probably 90% of US does not have this concentration of charging outlets, meaning not only locations but total number of electric "pumps". It will be very interesting to view this video in 20 years when charging locations are as common as fuel pumps. For now you are in EV paradise and most of the country is in EV desert. In much of US people commute in F150s, CUVs and SUVs, and it is rare to see an EV. But the change will come. It will be interesting to see how many Mach E and ID.4 are sold in my EV desert this year. And yep, the folks going 80+ mph in Texas are not going to get 270 miles from their Mach E. 🙂🤠

All range tests that compare to EPA results need to be performed at 55 MPH, since that is what the EPA uses for their speed test! At 55 the Mach-E AWD 4X can go 310 miles on a full charge even though it is rated at 270. Driving at 65 to 70 MPH is not a valid range test for EPA standards. Thanks for the effort.

The amount of CO2 emitted manufacturing -an 88 kWh- a 98.8 kWh battery pack is around -8.8 to 26.4- 9.9 to 29.6 tons. Someone living and charging up their Mustang Mach E (and getting 270 miles from a fully charged battery) in California will emit an additional 1.2 tons per year if they drive the 14,500 mile/year American average. If the battery pack lasts 150,000 miles, the vehicle's average CO2 emissions will be anywhere from about -141 to 259- 148 to 280 grams per mile ( -88 to161- 92 to 174 gCO2/km) before accounting for CO2 emissions given off during the manufacture of the rest of the vehicle's components. For comparison, a typical figure for a hybrid vehicle over the course of its lifetime would be something like 250 grams of CO2 per mile (~155 gCO2/km), where the figure includes CO2 emissions generated manufacturing all of the vehicle's components as well as CO2 emissions generated refining and delivering the gasoline it uses to market. So to state the obvious, it isn't clear that EVs like this are better in terms of CO2 emissions than hybrid vehicles even in California where the CO2 intensity of electricity generation is lower than the national average, but if they are, at best they probably only represent an expensive way to achieve a modest improvement that could be achieved more economically in other ways.

You mention the Lower starting price of the Mach E but fail to mention the model you are driving is $6K more than the Tesla Model Y Long range and the Mach E 0-60 time performance is less. so let's have a discussion about the $4000 Power delivery system you have to put in at your house to charge the car in less than 4 days. I don't know about you but my head hurts just thinking about all of these ridiculous questions usually when you go in and buy new car its how much does it cost? and what does the car come with. The sticker on the window says it gets 35 MPG and generally that's what it gets 2 minutes to fill the tank and you're on your way.

$4k? Nah. Less than a grand to hook up my garage.

For all the tech and the 340 kw charging available the Mach E will still be hampered by the often horrible charging network of EA and EVGo. It’s a beautiful vehicle and looks like it’s well made. Take a long trip, see what it’s like to have to move from plug to the next repeatedly and most times have to contact the customer support to try and diagnose the issue. Often it’s taken care of by a fairly quick reset of the station. But as I experienced in BFE Oklahoma at a Loves Country Store on a cross country trip, none of the 4 units there would work. I had to limp down the road at 35mph hoping to get to a station that would work. Cool looking car.

Purchased same vehicle. Mine will be delivered next month, so I'm excited to watch your upcoming reviews on MME. Thanks for pushing the range. It's good to see the real range with normal driving, although I'm a 75 MPH driver on highways.

Your loop looks good, hwy, country roads and city traffic. That is real world to me. Please review charging speed. Heating and cooling cabin. Driver assist. Home charging on 240v.

Range test videos are great but I don't see the point of them anymore. Range anxiety just isn't a thing anymore. Regular ICE vehicles get maybe 400-500 miles off a full tank and they only got that sort of range I'd say the last 20 years. For much of their history no one gave a shit about their range or fuel-efficiency. But suddenly with electric vehicles now people care about maximizing range and efficiency? 200-300 miles on a charge is more than enough for everyday driving. I like to see the car manufacturers improve but where we need to see improvement more is in the charging infrastructure and charge stations. But I still don't see myself charging an EV like a gas car. I'd just charge at home and it would seem unlikely for me to have a low battery during daily commute. The only concern would be driving on a long trip.

It doesn't matter if lowering your speed placates "EV people". If it's a test: RUN IT THE SAME EVERY TIME.

Not bad Alex. My hat is off to Ford. Hopefully, they will come up with an electric F-150 in the near future. That will be a colossal game changer. I predict they won’t be able to build them fast enough. 😊

Hey, I liked the music, especially the one that sounded like old-school funk!😁

After the initial battery degradation of 5% that occurs in most all EV batteries, I'm sure the mileage will be more accurate to the 260-270 mile range. Probably the smart move to understate out of the factory.

I have a 2016 Genesis G80 5.0. Love the car! Now I’m looking at the Mach E as a second car. Your long term review will help make my decision. I want the GT version. Sorry not a fan of Tesla. I just hope there will be more charging stations in Sacramento area soon.

There's no need to apologize for not being a fan of any particular car brand.

Ford is slower than Tesla. If you want GT type performance, better to get Tesla and live with ailments.

How much power does sitting still using AC use? Like in a 2 hour traffic jam or waiting hours for COVID test? Time- range lost?

i dont think ppl realize, tesla is reserving maybe 3KW while the mache is about 12. i wonder if its truly down to the chemistry....

Ford really took "under promise, over deliver" to heart on the EPA estimate. And that's great! I would rather be pleasantly surprised than expect a certain level of performance and be disappointed.

ok Alex, I was listening to your Polestar audio and this Ford Mustang, am I thinking the Ford is actually quieter?
