Every time I drive my Challenger now I'm disappointed with not having 100% torque from a dead stop, much worse throttle response, and way more inconsistent throttle response over all speeds. The only thing making me hold off from buying one right now is their use of the now obsolete CCS connector, so I'm waiting till the add the NAS connector.

Its worth noting the Challenger only outsold the Mustang because it was cheaper, and because Dodge was fine with doing sub-prime loans. This car is super expensive. This EV version really just seems like a compliance car. Since its built for an ICE powertrain, it makes a lot of compromises, such as having a transmission tunnel. I really think sales on the EV version are going to be very low. The gas model will likely sell fine.

Did you just watch the throttle house review and then come here to comment every thing they said about the car to try and sound informed?
@Stuka87Күн бұрын
@@Mildern I have not yet watched their video. However, from the day stellantis said that the EV and ICE versions of the car were going to use the same platform, we knew it was going to be compromised. The car would likely be lighter if it was an EV only from the ground up. With the EV version costing a lot more than the ICE version, the ICE version will likely sell much better. And in case it needs to be said, I like EVs when they are done well. Lucid makes an amazing car, Hyundai is making some great EVs. But this car seems like all those carbon credits that Stellantis has been buying for years finally caught up with them. And by finally building an EV, they can offset those. Many auto makers have made compliance cars (Spark EV, Golf EV, Bolt, etc) Maybe I will be wrong, and these will sell well. But with the sedan market shrinking every year, and this car costing as much as it does, coupled with the main demographic that purchased the previous generation cars hating EVs, I just don't see it selling well. And now I will go watch the other peoples videos on this car. This video popped up first in my feed.

This new Charger EV underperforms compared to pure EVs from Tesla and Rivian because those designs don’t have to try and fit a gas engine into the design at a later date. This means better 0-60 times and less weight for pure EVs than the compromised Dodge. The base new Charger EV underperforms compare to just a simply Tesla Model 3 Long Range and the Scatpack underperforms compared to the Model 3 Performance. For plenty of people, I love muscle cars, I'm very into tech, and as a Gen Xer I love the nostalgia of the 60's car based styling, to me it's damn near the perfect car with the only issue being that's honestly about $10k too expensive. Still once they ditch the obsolete CCS charging connector I'm selling my Challenger and buying one. Really I think it's just not for the 20th century equivalent of the Amish, people fearing change and stuck in the past, aka boomers.

@sandrahiltz fair points. I like the styling too. To me it just feels like sort of a bad enthusiasts car and sort of a bad EV. But I guess I'm missing a demographic who has the coin for spending this amount of money but doesn't need a particularly great EV or driver's car. No frequent long drives but you want your trips to be "special" in some sort of way.

@@ThereAreNoHandlesLeft Yeah, for me I want muscle car styling, but I still want plenty of space, 2 years of owning a Subaru BRZ taught me sports cars are not for me, I want good performance for real world New England driving conditions, aka a combination of dry, wet, snow, ice, and pot holes with more storage capacity than the Charger's frunk, lol. Even the range I feel is people making a mountain of a mole hill, even 240 mile range is 4+ hours of driving, regardless of what I'm driving, after that long I'm going to want to stop, stretch my legs and eat something, so stopping for more than enough time to charge it up. Not to mention it's not like muscle cars are know for ranging anyways, I average 19mpg in my Challenger so that's only a 350 mile range so not much better than the base R/T Daytona Charger which is 317 miles.

This thing is so cool. I can't wait till the gas comes out. Hopefully those will be in the low 40s.

The 4 door ICE model might be a nice cruiser. I had a 2013 Charger R/T and it was really nice on the highway. The price is a bit ridiculous, traditionally, muscle cars were the performance vehicle for the common man. Meant to be affordable to the blue collar worker. 71k is not that. Hopefully the ICE versions are more reasonably priced.

Finally a true two (three) door thank you Dodge for giving us choices in body styles!

This thing is longer than an early 2000’s Cadillac Deville 😂 this looks so much worse than the outgoing model and without a V8, it’s lost its soul. I don’t care if electric is faster. They have no soul.

Can one turn the exhaust sound completely off? EVs are supposed to be totally silent.
@66skateКүн бұрын
US Regulations: In the United States, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) mandated that all EVs and hybrid vehicles must produce a minimum sound level when traveling at low speeds (up to 18.6 mph) to alert pedestrians and cyclists. This rule aims to enhance safety for vulnerable road users.

@@66skate I know this, doesn't mean i have to like it. I pulled the fuse for the speaker on my Bolt EV because the the sound 1. sucked (sounded like a roaring crowd) and 2. One of the whole points of EVs was for them to silent and stealthy. To be more specific can the Fratzonic part be turned off and just have the mandated sound be the only thing it emits?
@sandrahiltz17 сағат бұрын
@@66skate Yes, but US regulations don't mandate sound volume so loud it can literally cause almost instant permanent hearing damage and just 3db short of being so loud it causes physical pain.

The electric version will in no way be considered a muscle car lmao. The gasoline version sure, but the electric version is zero muscle.
