@@mateuszkrytyk5711 big L?! My dude, you clearly haven't experienced much of life. I'll admit, your first point is true, you do miss 100% of the shots you don't take, but answer me this, when you spend hours or minutes making that shot where are you meant to get the time to make them? Real people in the real world don't have the time to be banging out multiple job applications per night after work. Your second point shows how little you really understand, I'm not even sure where to start explaining how wrong you are in reality. You only understand the concept of a business in theory, you've never actually directly worked for one or been one so you're not even aware of the realities. People do other people favours, they also take people on that have family or friends in the business as its easier and they trust the person to not recommend an absolute troglodyte and make thier life easier. Does this apply in 100% of all cases? No, obviously there's nuance. As for your third point, I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at as I presume English isn't your first language, however if you think that the government is going to do something about a pharmacist employing thier nephew over a qualified pharmacist with a degree then I have a bridge to sell you. The government doesn't just give zero fucks it encourages this behaviour. I bet you've never looked at the costs of taking your employer or potential employer to court. I have. It's prohibitively expensive unless you're a literal millionaire. I won't hold it against you and say you've hit a massive L though, I'll just chalk it down to niavity and a lack of actual real world experience. Or you're just lucky. 🤷🏼♂️

I HATE this question because it’s pretty obvious we’re there for the job. Like I never know if I say something wrong and get not hired because every interview has a different perspective. I turn it around on them. The reason you should hire me is that your company is looking for a reliable employee that cares about the quality of his/her work. While the interview process is important in selecting a new employee, most managers I have worked for have a very busy schedule even when they are not taking care of emergency situations. Your company wants someone to fill this position. You probably want an employee you can train, will cause little to no problems, and to get back to your other duties instead of interviewing me and several dozen applicants that have made it this far. This will either get you hired or take you out of the pool.

At least in the US, unless the job directly requires a vehicle and license to drive like a delivery person, they can't legally ask you if you have a car and drive, they can only ask if you have reliable transportation, regardless of the mode of transport. It took me about 5 years to get rid of phone phobia, answering calls from customers and clients. I had to do it during apprenticeship at 17 and later at a job. It was awful at first but now that I don't have to do it anymore I miss it :) Get a job in telemarketing, they'll hire just about everyone. You gain some XP at answering phone calls and handle difficult people on the phone. Even if you suck at it, it'll get easier the more you do it and finally lose that phone phobia ;) I've known a girl who was even worse, and got a job at a call center for inbound calls and complaints. It made her a lot more confident and can handle people better face to face now too. When I was working as an IT network manager visiting a client, I noticed an apprentice that just couldn't do that much but was slowly growing into the job. Taking phone calls was really bad, soft voice, no proper greeting etc. The director at first didn't consider to offer her a job but I reminded him how he started out and that everyone needs a chance to grow. She got hired and still works there after 6 years. Anyway, even if you're awkward with people, experience and routine will help you, and there are people who'll help you too, just get out there and expose yourself to the outer world! Or if you can find that niche for yourself, that's great too!

Something I’ve noticed is that if they don’t hire you on the spot (or by the second interview) you more than likely aren’t getting the job. I’ve had so many interviews where I thought I was gonna get it only to never hear back from them. Know your worth and your opportunities. Have at least two to three jobs lined up without expectations of any and maybe you’ll get a job on the seventh try.
@danailmarinov72993 жыл бұрын
I relate to this so much. I used to be hella nervous like that on job interviews. The secret is. Don't care if they hire you or not. Just speak your thoughts on an interview. If they hire you, cool, if not, move on to the next job offer.

Getting a job is awful. I was only lucky that a friend helped me out. Luckily they didn't pick me over another person. In reality, anyone could have been hired and would have done the same work. The sad thing is, I even went to college. But prior to the pandemic, the only jobs that were available were dead-end jobs. Sadly, that is most of the U.S and the reason for the so called "Great resignation." Luckily I got the job prior and have been able to stay in it. In my opinion, the greed up on top is getting worse and worse. They all want to become billionaires now, not millionaires. And you can bet they will attempt to cut any corner and screw any employee to inch even the slightest. Who cares if an employee can't afford to live in a home, who cares if they can't afford food, as long as the employer gets to afford their expensive coffees and luxury cars and rub that right into the employee's faces every morning...... As long as they inch towards becoming a billionaire..... And then mock their employees by saying they can't afford a home because all they spend their money on is avocado toast...... All while the employer has their money in a tax haven......

It's so frustrating because it's basically mandatory for some reason to have your license and a car for every job now. Even if the actual job doesn't require you to do any driving or if the place is near a bus stop. I have a fear of driving and driving and convincing myself to learn to get my license is really hard, but I need a job so I have to stop putting it off before my mum murders me lol

I'm on the same boat, six years on university because in theory it helps you get a job, guess what, it doesn't. I'm lucky to have a car, but not that it matter since I never even got an interview.
@anastasiafalcon46373 жыл бұрын
It's so weird how things differ in many countries. Expecting a very young person applying for a restaurant job to have their own car? How would they buy it? In some countries it's ok to expect that but in others that's a very ridiculous expectation. If the job is directly related to driving like maybe delivering stuff - ok. But if the job has nothing to do with it that's another story.

I live in an area with decent public transportation plus i use Lyft. So many jobs i come across care more about you having a car/ license than anything else and it's so annoying. Like i understand if it's a job that's on the road but a one location job like retail, grocery store etc, why does it matter. Me and lots of people around my age don't have a car cause it's so expensive thus we are still unemployed

In the US it's actually illegal for an interviewer to ask if you have a car (unless its legitimately necessary for the job, like delivery) but most places try to get around that by asking if you have "reliable transportation" and hoping you'll just voluntarily say if you have a car or not in the answer. If you get asked that in an interview just say "yes" and don't elaborate.

I always believed this to be a media lie to not make people panic. I had an incredibly hard time finding a job post pandemic when our company started slashing hours, and other employers became incredibly picky (probably because their was so many people looking for work) Luckily I was able to find something decent. In short if the economy is bad and there's an influx of people looking, they're just gonna grab the best. When in recent years they could've taken more risks and grabbed someone less experienced... That's my theory at least, and the media didn't help matters telling everyone: THIS IS THE BEST TIME TO LOOK FOR WORK! LABOR SHORTAGE and all that.

OMG I hate the interview process! I don't know how it is over there in your country, but here in the USA, it's awful! I am fine with speaking to people, but no matter how much I try, I ALWAYS have this stutter (I have Autism so that's probably why because I tend to trip over my words since they easily get jumbled in my head). I wish Interviews would INCLUDE showing off your practical skills. And you can have the best resume and interview in the world and still stink at your job or vice versa. Perfect example is my youngest brother. While he was going to college, he wanted to get a part time job to pay for tuition. Well, he tried getting a job working at the Cafeteria of the hospital where my mom was working at the time. Mind you, my brother has huge anxiety when it comes to any type of public speaking and this includes interviews. Apparently he had the worst interview ever, BUT thank God for my mom, she convinced the person in charge of the cafeteria to hire him because my brother has a great work ethic despite his shy nature. The lady did and my brother ended up being the best worker in his position. Others his age who had glowing interviews and resumes ended up being awful and would never last that long due to their extremely lazy nature or big egos (they thought they were better then everyone).

I feel like I'm not the only person where I work who can't drive. There are so many others that wait on rides. It depends on the people in charge at the workplace, they're all human so different places will have differing opinions. In my job interview I ended up talking about video games because she kept asking about me and I lost track of what the hell else I could say and I still got the job. It's a retail store btw.

Most of the times in the US they ask "do you have reliable transportation" I was told to say "yes" even though I had a 20 year old truck, lol. My truck was actually older than me at the time of my first job and broke down a few times. I started keeping a bike in the back as an emergency transport if I broke down on the way to work so I could still say it was reliable.

Back when I was an engineering student (BIG MISTAKE) the scariest part of the job interviews wasn't the "What are your Strengths questions" but the "Tell us about what you think about the _insert technical term here_ our company focuses on" questions. Every interview was Exam day I swear to go god. Gearing up for war type of shit with what I had to deal with like cmon this is a Job Fair that I found out about yesterday just take my Resume and ask basic questions please? Switched to a business major and now I'm an admittedly overqualitifed AR clerk while I finish my bahcelors. Life is sweet.
