Hey but are you sleeping? Is mine the first comment in 7 years? This is the best solo double bass performance I've heard!

I was lucky enough to hang out with Dave at the Blue Note NYC recently when he was playing in the Kenny Barron Trio alongside Jonathan Blake on drums, not only is he an awesome bass player, he’s also a very lovely man. Thank you Dave.

I've met him and chatted briefly after a few shows - the old Knitting Factory being one, many years ago - and he was always gracious and happy to chat. I met Ron Carter once and had the exact OPPOSITE experience. I was young then and asking him to sign a CD (his solo CD at least!) and I get it: you can be catching someone on a bad night or having a tough week. Which makes the experiences with Dave stand out even more. And, as always: the sets preceding the chitting & the chatting were enthralling. What a Titan on the instrument.

Imagine the balls to go up there with just your bass and play a entire concert.

I can hear the love for Ray Brown! Excellent solo performance, a 1 in 10, which I did view multiple times, ongoing…` Thanks Dave Holland!! (Once the longhaired one from 'Call it anything' at the Isle of Wight' ;) )
