For those struggling to find the developer component use the install server only then follow Alex to the end by accepting everything and once that is done installing, it will populate a dialog box where you will have the option to add features on the right side of the box. Select add and select workbench then select the most recent one which is 40 at the time of my writing then go ahead and install that, and of course, allow workbench to start upon installation. Once that's complete you will have the same thing that he has. Good luck.

Hi, Alex. Thank you so much for your videos. They are sooo informative and I (we) are learning so much from you. Please, note that in the video, at 7min:15s, you show the Navigator > Schemas panel with the databases. At least in my case, when I open the mySQL application it actually shows the Navigator > Administrator panel, which shows a completely different view. It took me a while to notice the two tabs (Administrator | Schemas) on the bottom part of the Navigator panel, which your video does not indicate. Thanks again so much for your work!!

we have an option: Select the archives folder, in which u can select mac os version for your system. If your OS IS mac 12.7.5 you select mac os 13 or you can select mac os12. But everything you should find in archives folder...

Videos were desktop versions, but they used the web version, which again, is outdated. For the developers option problem, what has worked with me so far is choosing the full option, then even if you have any errors keep going back and trying again, and trust me that would eventually work. And you’ll find yourself on the same steps as Alex

I watched someone else's video on how to install MySQL, i watched Alex's own, i uninstalled the MySQL installer and installed it again about 4 times while deleting the packages from the previous installation. It was just a rollercoaster of trying and trying again and believing I could get it. I had to stop being anxious, took breaks in between, told myself I could get it right, all of these took about 5 days though. And voila, I noticed at some point, i and Mr. Alex's video were at the same place and it became successful. Just keep trying and be patient. Don't be in a hurry. Take your time and make sure there are no errors for each installation process. All the best! Do let me know when it's successful.

When downloading from the MySQL Community Downloads 1:06 , click on Archives, and you can select the appropriate version from there. A kind individual suggested this on my comment. Hope it helps.

Yeah that's the same issue I had. His videos are for mySQL and Microsoft SQL Server and they both run on windows. I saw that the Microsoft one can be run through Docker if you're on a Mac but I was really hoping to not add a bunch of steps just to get started.

Thankyou Alex for a great starting tutorial. At work I have to move from my Access database to MySQL after working with that student Db for near on 16 years, goodbye old friend. Anyway, I tried installing MySQL on my own yesterday at work and couldn't get it right. Looked for some tutorials, but they were either hard to understand the accent or too old a version of MySQL. Today I found your tutorial, which helped me install it on my home PC in no time and I'm now up and running. (Will have to fix it up at work on Monday). So to install, I clicked on the full option, then went to another page and searched Microsoft visual c++ Redistributable package. I selected the one from techspot, then downloaded the one with 64bt 2015-2022. After that it will ask to restart your computer, do that then try to install the sql again. This time all the boxes will be checked. Then click on execute to continue from where Alex is.

@@miriamnyangwara4842 That happened to me too, but I eventually figured it out from the comments. First, delete and reinstall the app. Then, select the custom server option instead of the developer default. Hope this helps
